AR and VR technologies might seem expensive to implement. Still, in reality, it can reduce costs, improve operations' performance and achieve a higher return on investments (ROI) for all of your business projects by utilizing the many competitive advantages!
To prove this fact, I want to introduce real VR/AR solutions that work in marketing.
As Sam Field, director of creative technology for Yahoo, said in one of his recent interviews, "The hottest buzzword in marketing right now is the metaverse." Thus, the VR/AR market is directly connected to any business's success.
"The recent study our company commissioned last year showed that 60% of shoppers now expect brands to have an AR shopping experience. It is the baseline expectation, especially if you look at things like homeware, furniture, clothing, trainers. The consumers want to contextualize how things will look on them and in their homes or environments."
Moreover, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pokemon, Yahoo has partnered with London-based fashion designer Charli Cohen and British department store Selfridges to launch Electric/City, a first-of-its-kind immersive shopping experience for fashion and gaming buffs. The immersive, 360-degree video experience takes shoppers to cyberpunk fashion capitals around the world where they can discover and buy limited-edition garments from the Charli Cohen x Pokémon range, as well as an exclusive Charli Cohen digital-only range.
But let's come back to the ways in which AR/VR can drive marketing.?
It offers fun and affordable advertising: one full-page color commercial in the Wall Street Journal may cost as much as $221,000, but a basic Augmented Reality advertisement can cost around $5,000 to create.
Augmented Reality advertisement creates emotional connections. Imagine a situation: you see an exciting billboard advertising a just-released movie. You have and ability to point your smartphone camera at the billboard and watch the trailer on your smartphone screen. You will likely be more excited about such an approach than about seeing a usual billboard.

As a consumer, you consume the content in a more immersive environment. Thus, the changes that you decide to watch the movie are rising.
In terms of VR, it can be used to showcase the development and of your inventions. That will help get customers invested in what you are creating and give you a source of feedback.
Volvo launched a VR app that allows car buyers to test drive their cars using smartphones and Google Cardboard headsets. Buyers can have the full experience from the comfort of their own homes. Other car manufacturers are also following in Volvo's footsteps.
And these are just some of the examples. Can you think of any other? Overall, do you agree that VR & AR are the most powerful tools for marketing right now?
