Why Visualization? - Part 1

It was late July. The sun was sweltering down on us, laying on our backs around the pitcher's mound. Our coach paced back and forth along the third base line, yelling out scenarios. "One out, man on second, left-handed batter at the plate!" What do you do? The first one to yell out the right answer got to stay put. The first one to yell out the wrong answer had to run the bases. The ones that didn't answer - they got to stand up and do 10 jumping jacks. Let me tell you, my brain did everything it could to keep me laying down.
Why would a coach put a bunch of teenagers through a drill like this? What purpose did it serve? Why didn't we just do batting practice, fielding practice, drill after drill after drill?
Maybe our coach was trying to help us in more ways than just skills. Maybe he wanted us to see the play before it was going to happen. He knew that we could imagine multiple scenarios in our minds and come up with the right play - the one that would make the most difference or have the best outcome. When the time came to execute, we would know what to do, and execute without hesitation. After all, we already knew what would happen. We wouldn't have to get caught up it wondering if our decision was right, because we had already gone through the possibilities and decided on the right path. He used visualization to make us better. To this day, when I'm on a baseball field, my brain is looking ahead 2-3 pitches, visualizing what to do next.
Visualization is something we hear a lot about. But why do it? The answer is simple. Just like my coach's exercise, when we use visualization techniques to find answers to problems before we execute, our execution not only is more accurate, smoother, and more efficient, but we can see the outcome before it happens, and change our plans accordingly so that the outcome is exactly what we want.
At Villusion Studios, our passion is helping people to solve problems using interactive visualization, and then execute with creativity, accuracy, and efficiency. Whether it is a medical equipment company needing virtual training and marketing, sports teams that want to give potential athletes the feel of what it's like to be on the field for the big game, a high-end resort wanting to allow potential investors to experience their yet-to-be-built property before ground is broken, or a cultural theme park who wants to help their guests maximize their experience, visualization helps them learn faster, focus on the best options, and execute with accuracy and efficiency.
What do you need to visualize? We're here to help you see it and interact with it before you build it. Give us a call. We would love to chat about your vision, and help you see it before you build it.
