Conventional wisdom might dictate that a pandemic would crush the event industry. For Singapore-based company Fun Empire, however, the opposite proved to be true.?

Over the past year, Fun Empire has developed new virtual and hybrid offerings, which will continue to be part of its core product suite going forward. They are expanding internationally, looking at larger markets like the United States, which was not on their roadmap before the pandemic hit.?

While people are craving human contact after a year of isolation, owner Natasha Toh says that virtual and hybrid events will continue to be a large part of the industry moving forward. Find out what else is in store for the industry in Toh’s Business Reimagined article — a series where entrepreneurs share their toughest challenges.

What experiences have you had hosting or attending an event over the course of the pandemic, whether in person, hybrid or virtually? What would you like to see going forward?

Latest Developments

  • More Black-owned businesses launched during the pandemic than at any point in the past 25 years.
  • Close to half of small businesses in a recent National Federation of Independent Business survey say they are planning on raising prices.?
  • Some restaurant proprietors are turning to technology to make up for a shortage in workers.
  • Workers returning to Wall Street offices is giving hope to downtown businesses that are dependent on employee foot traffic.

Conversations For You

Something Good

YES, we now all see that virtual, in-person and hybrid can all have their awesome roles!

In likelihood, the small hour glass appearing on a computer screen while a credit card number is completing the required authorization checkout steps with an online grocery merchant can be a preferred shopping choice for some consumers when purchasing breakfast cereal and nutrition bars rather than waiting in a long checkout line at the neighborhood grocery store, so innovative companies adopting Fun Empire’s hybrid marketing strategy of offering consumers both traditional brick-and-mortar and virtual shopping options is helpful to behemoth and lesser-known brands when carving a marketplace niche.??? #smallbusinessmarketing #entrepreneurialmindset

Hi Jordan, When you are unemployed I like attending the Virtual job affairs since you don't have to dress up and go out to these job fairs and you can save gas by not driving to them. You can talk to a lot of recruiters all at once without outgoing anywhere and wasting gas. Virtual job fairs are run very well and you don't have to wear a mask or go out being in contact with people. Until we have the virus under control I will be doing the virtual job fairs,
