How many times have you asked round the office ‘where shall we hold our event?’ and received many vastly different ideas? Usually, those with the loudest voice or the most ardent opinion will influence you most. And they may be right in their choice but equally, they may have been influenced themselves by a good or bad visit, or by looking at review websites such as Trip advisor. What suits one person may not suit another; as an organiser, you’re looking for the perfect fit for your event.

You therefore have two choices – you either do it yourself or you can use a venue finder. A venue finder is trained to impartially assess venues and continually improve their knowledge of venues whether that is by actually working on events or by visiting them. In contrast, you need to take time out of your day to visit those venues you think might work, maybe relying on colleagues’ chip-ins or a website, only to find that it doesn’t feel right or the customer service is poor or your event just doesn’t work there. Or, you might have missed THE one that would be fabulous.

A venue finder is experienced in asking the right questions, listening to your answers and then locating suitable venues objectively on your behalf.  If the perfect venue cannot be found straight away, the venue finder should then be able to change just one aspect of the event, whether that be the date, numbers, location, set up or style of venue for instance, search again and offer you choices. Adiona often will throw in a ‘joker’ something that will fit the brief really well but makes the client think again about their objectives, a bit like the mystery house offered in ‘Escape to the Country’!

And an excellent venue finder will not just use an algorithmic search engine to choose venues which ostensibly fit the brief – they will know the venues from visiting them, they will use common sense, maps, their library of venues and personal knowledge. They are totally independent and not tied to any chain or group.  They will go the extra mile to make sure that the chosen venue is right for you, they will be alert for signs that things are not going smoothly at the venue, they will have walked through the property and understood the movement of your delegates during your event.
