Why is the Universe like this?
COVID altered our way of life in unprecedented ways. Either we were affected or infected. Many of those who have lost their jobs have found it difficult to climb out of the hole they have dug. Those who remained had it slightly easier, but with more work and dependents, they are not to be envied. To cut a long story short, everyone is being stretched beyond their limits. Why would the universe deal itself such a bad hand?
The situation is difficult and will last longer than one would like. It contains apocalyptic overtones that only serve to exacerbate the situation. The question is, why do humans face adversity? Nobody I know can confidently state that they face no difficulties. Every day, we are confronted with new and unpleasant situations. They present a challenge, from the very personal to the communal. I believe there are many possible answers, but one that comes to mind is that the Universe wishes for us to increase our capacity to enjoy life.
Have you ever heard how some people who experience tragedy come out feeling fortunate and with a zest for life that they had long forgotten? What caused them to undergo such a transformation? Over time, the heart, which houses our emotions, becomes calloused to the point where it can no longer sense reality. We lose our ability to appropriately experience what is going on. These limits one’s ability to respond to ongoing issues.

Difficulties have the potential to break one’s heart. This appears to be tragic until something magical appears from within. When someone accepts their situation and goes through heartbreak, they can start over. Pent-up emotions can now interact with?reality. Hopefully, we can learn how to nurture them so that we?have the best experience possible. Our emotions help us to navigate and enjoy reality. Without them, we walk around with no sense of sight, sound, smell, or other aspects of reality. I hope this helps to explain why things appear hazy. When it’s impossible to feel what’s going on in one’s life, could the answer lie in numb emotions?
