Why is it Unfair to Glorify 'Rejections' or 'Failures'?

Why ‘understanding the Rejections’ holds more value than glorifying it?

Why is there so much fuss about rejections or failures stories?

Rejection resume or failure stories are becoming a trend on social media.

Though I understand that glorifying the rejections makes your stories more sellable and it enhances your success story. Some people believe that it can help others learn from you and may be they will be motivated by your stories.

Whilst it looks cool to mention your story, and your failures or rejection upon having reached to a certain level, I am wondering what all these stories can do to the minds of youngsters.

The achievers need to be mindful of what indication all youngsters are getting upon seeing all this.

Since we all fail at some point of time, people can resonate with your stories of failure and you get the opportunity to show your human side and this helps people in establishing an instant connection with others.

In my view, the youngsters need to have understanding of the rejections or failures, and not the motivation from other’s stories of failures and success.

We also need to imagine the repercussions on the minds of youngsters, who might not able to achieve what all they wanted despite their best efforts.

In the highly competitive structure of education and careers, there are several instances of deserving and hardworking candidates not able to make it to their dream College, University, Institute, Program, or the dream Company.

Whilst motivational stories of leaders glorifying their failures can be insightful for some, but one thing it is doing for sure, in the minds of everyone listening to those stories is that if you are not able to overcome your rejections and failures, you are a failure.

And we have multiple examples of such students and professionals, who end up committing suicide or harm themselves in multiple ways. Increasing rate of mental health issues is just another example of people not being able to overcome the failures.

In this case, I have problem with the definition of Rejections, in the absence of equal opportunity.

??Assume you have applied for a job and you are competing with 150 other candidates and only 5 candidates are supposed to get the job and if you do not get the job, that is not REJECTION. Its competition.

Just because we do not have enough jobs that does not mean you are being rejected.

Imagine if we had enough jobs for everyone.

??Whilst trying to get admission in a college, people below the cut-off percentage are not being rejected, it is just that we do not have enough colleges and we need to work on our higher education.

In a nutshell, anything you do during education, during professional career, remember you are a part of a competitive structure. You are doing something that everyone is doing, and the result of that does not make anyone a failure or success.

?Though, it is unfortunate to have such shortage of jobs or education opportunities, the key lies in crossing this stage by being smart and by not getting seduced by the status at all.

??Do what all it takes to make you financially stable, and that is where wealth driven societies seem to surpass status driven societies.

If you have a business idea and are looking for funding, but your idea is quite common and you are competing with others on the grounds of ROI, efficiency etc. and you don’t get funding on desired terms, even that’s not REJECTION

REJECTION is, when you have something revolutionary, something path breaking, something that has potential to change the world; but the world is not able to see that, and people reject you because they cannot envision your idea or they consider you insane.

If you have the courage to move forward with your idea and later on, you can prove them all wrong, and then you can call yourself that you were rejected at first.

When you do something, without which you can still live a comfortable life, and still give yourself a chance to try & fail, and the objective is to change something in the world, that is when you are entering in the sphere of real rejection and real success.

Everything else is a fight for survival or at the most comfortable survival.

The youngsters need to have the right understanding of rejections; because our current definition of success and failure is incorrect and that makes them feel miserable and makes them hurt themselves.

In a highly competitive structure because of low supply and huge demand of resources, many of us would not be able to make it.

Many of us would not be able to make it to our dream college, and to our dream job. That is not because of the capability that is because we do not have enough opportunities.

No amount of motivation can help everyone get the jobs and education they deserve. Therefore, we need to think about those who would miss out eventually and we need to share our stories responsibly to consider that scenario. ?

These failure or success stories can work, when we have equal opportunity for everyone.
