Why are unconventional people being hated by society? Why are artists, activists, freethinkers, and philosophers facing cyberbullying?
Welcome Habibi,
I am writing this piece of note out of my personal experience as well as of others. I always wondered why different thinking people are being attacked and harassed by the common public. Why is the public not accepting people as individuals?
“Intelligence is dangerous. Intelligence means you will start thinking on your own; you will start looking around on your own. You will not believe in the scriptures; you will believe only in your own experience.
— OSHO
.
Let’s discuss.
Why are we being cyberbullied?
I observe that mostly the artistic, creative, freethinker type people are facing immense social pressure to conform to social norms. They even get bullied by the traditionalists and fanatics in the society.
Scientists and researchers are also facing the situation in countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and African nations. When their rationality and critical thinking are being brought to social media, the masses will start attacking them. The mass population doesn’t like to study, research, or understand things. They love their daily circus for bread and butter. They lack intelligence to understand scientists, philosophers, and brainy people.
I also understand why so many artists are facing backlashes from the public because their opinions, lifestyles, and choices go against the traditional society. The mass population tries to pull them down to their level because they accept the fact that artists are more successful than them.
In fact, sometimes, high functioning people in society fear for their lives from the mass population. They live in gated communities with their similar peers because they can’t relate to common people, and they are concerned about their safety.
How am I relating to this situation?
When you have an unconventional personality, you are being perceived as an outcast in traditional society. Because establishments fear your individual intelligence and thinking. They fear you would influence people to wage a revolt against their norms. They know they can't control your brain and thoughts.
I am a bit of an unconventional personality, individualistic, sensitive, introverted, and emotional type. I have always been like this. Earlier I thought it was my inability to conform to social rules by the orthodox culture in India. I realized later that my personality needs a liberal, free-spirited lifestyle because I crave personal space and self-expression.
This is the case of so many of my friends who are raised in orthodox households. Their strong need for personal space and independence makes them rebellious, anti-social to the orthodox societies.
Even though I wanted to improve the surroundings and their lives, I miserably failed so many times. I tried to improve the situation in my home, but nobody cares.
At some point, I realized you can’t change anything in this world except ourselves. The mass population is enforcing their social norms on people who don’t accept their non-sense and conservative lifestyle.
You can’t change your parents; you can’t change your siblings—they may not share the same IQ score with you. You can’t make them understand and adapt to changes. I miserably failed in this.
I really, I admit, miserably failed at improving the situation around me. With a desperate heart, I would say, we must move on. We must stop activism; we must leave the mass population. They are making our lives miserable.
The only practical steps that I understand now are these:
.
1. Stop living with parents.
2. Move to an individualistic culture (Western Europe, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa).
3. Marry/live together with a partner who values your individuality.
4. Change our career, which suits our personality.

5. Continue our unconventional hobbies.
6. Embrace new friends and associates
7. Make money; enjoy life.
8. Don’t show off material things, it’s dangerous.
What are the unconventional careers that pay big money?
In general, unconventional personalities want to make self-expression as well as independence in their lives. They are not suitable for routine based regular jobs. They always want new challenges, new learnings and new experiences.
Remember, the earning potential in these fields can vary depending on factors such as experience, education, location, and market demand. It’s important to research specific careers and consider your interests, skills, and career goals when making a decision.

So, what’s my whole point?
To make our lives less stressed and happy, we must understand ourselves first. When we understand more on culture, society, psychology, economics — all liberal arts subjects, somehow, we will come to understand us more.
The personality type, its needs and wants, traits, etc. are a key thing in deciding what to do next in our lives. We make better lifestyle choices if we are better informed about ourselves. I would say, don’t lose your individuality. We must create our own identity in this world and stand out to the public.
We may be hated or bullied, but like-minded people will be attracted to us. They will make our lives so easy as we find common interests. In fact, the earlier you realise about yourself is better than later in life. We live short, right?
Choose wisely and live well!
.
Take care,
I love you all!
