Why Truth Matters
Having fact-based, accurate, and unbiased information is the critical foundation we need in order to make intelligent and positive decisions in business, government, healthcare, and at home with our families. Nothing makes this point more shockingly clear than the Covid-19 pandemic, where decisions based on false, biased, or “spun” information could literally cost lives.
The story below pales in comparison to the infinitely more important news of the day. However, for my family and I, it represents closure on a 4+ year period of experiencing the severe and negative impact that results when that critical foundation is missing - when the eagerness of the media to publish headlines spun for maximum clicks outweighs the focus on Truth, and when that media eagerness can be so easily exploited by those who count on the unthinking “group think” reaction of media consumers to help them achieve a selfish, political, and/or criminal goal.
Hopefully one positive outcome of the Covid-19 crisis will be a renewed priority on unbiased and fact-based reporting, and a renewed awareness in society of the importance of having Truth as the compass to guide our decisions, actions and opinions.

4 年One of my biggest concerns for some time now is how much the media controls the "hype". I know you and your family have been through a lot, and my heart goes out to you. COVID-19 is real, but find reliable sources of information (your state public health website, the CDC, and the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus website), and rely less on media outlets.

4 年We have to look beneath all-the facts and never pass judgement on a great human being as Micheal. We have to look at the bigger picture here. We can’t just destroy a man’s life and his family here. The countless hours of work and dedication he has done just to print an untruthful story so the media could print what ever they want and distort a man’s life. The media needs to be held accountable for what they have done. To all those people who didn’t believe Michael. Shame on you. Again the truth always prevails and now who is sitting on the top where he and his family should be. I rest my case on this now. Let Michael, do what he knows best to make this world a better place for everyone. You go Mike and don’t stop.

4 年Could not agree more. How is it that even in these modern times, seeking truth hasn't gotten any easier. The more things change, the more things stay the same.

4 年One of my great hopes with the COVID-19 crisis is that it will remind society at large of the importance of evidence based action and policy in both the public and private sectors. There is no such thing as "alternative facts". Now more than ever we need steady, science based solutions to serious problems.
