Why training is so important?
Training presents a prime opportunity to expand the knowledge base of all our Heartists (Accor name for our employees).
Heartists attending training sessions also miss out on work time which may delay the completion of projects and affecting some operations such as food & beverage, front office, housekeeping.
And it’s often a challenge to get the right and complete attendance (and at least on time); the main fault and responsibility being from their department heads (HOD) or direct line manager. They think training is not the main priority, not important and they don’t take attention to look at training plan and schedule issued previously by the training manager. So at the last minutes, because being forced to send someone, they pick randomly someone from their team (sometimes the concerned is even not informed !) and what happened ? : no-show on training, half-class empty, waste of time for others waiting, waste of money, training quality affected and not completed. The reason given and heard many time? Guess what : “We are busy”.
However despite these potential drawbacks, training and development provides both the individual and organisations as a whole with benefits that make the cost and time a worthwhile investment. The return on investment from training and development of Heartists is really a no brainer.
We must improved our employee performance
In Mercure French Village Ban Hills our Heartists who receives the necessary training is more able to perform in their job. The training will give the Heartists a greater understanding of their responsibilities within their role, and in turn build their confidence.
This confidence will enhance their overall performance and this can only benefit the company.
Training must happened every day, any time and everywhere
Daily English classes for basics happening in housekeeping or engineering departments are an example of how deep and important must be conducted the trainings.
Trainings for all and there is no boundary of “Front&Back of the house” departments as it’s still called in the old fashion management style.
In Mercure French Village Ban Hills, it doesn’t exist. All Heartists are less or more in publics but all must have the same approach of service delivery, knowledge and responses.
A robust training program ensures that employees have a consistent experience and a background knowledge.
This is very important for an international hotel with a famous recognized brand to maintain brand standards and high quality all the time, regardless of the person who performed the tasks. It’s also a key of the guest satisfaction experience and to draw a way to match or even exceed customer expectations.
We are the able to increase the productivity and the adherence to quality standards.
Last but not least, trainings are necessary for the future of the company and it’s a cost saving in recruitment, the investments made will covered by far the cost of the turn-over and time spent on interviews, documents and inductions of the new members.
Trainings have costs but with a strategic management vision right trainings save money and slow down the turnover.
