Why time-management is crucial when you want to work in ‘FLOW’
Do you feel that resistance to planning and time-management because you want things to evolve naturally, in their own pace?
I hear you!
Often I hear this objection of people not wanting to plan or structure their days, because they want to be open to opportunities. They fear they are not able to create that flow in their business if they plan ahead and put a structure in place.
And you know what? That is exactly the reason why you should be planning and implement time- management.
Let me tell you: time-management is not something rigid, it is a tool to allow you to be even more aware of the opportunities and live in FLOW.
Let me bust the myth that organic growth or opportunities come to you like that. Opportunities come to you because you create the vision and structure through which you are able to see those opportunities when they come.
And when you dig a little deeper in why you shy away from time-management it is rather because you lack the vision and clarity of where you want to go and WHY you want to make that dream come true, or a lack of vision on how you are going to get there, am I right?
Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be that way!
I used to think the same, until I really wanted to bring my business to the next level and yet be able to be there for my children. My why was stronger than ever, since I wanted to provide for my children and also spend time with them. It forced me to make choices, to choose what was really important and how I was going to make it happen in the time I had available.
That is why I am so passionate about time-management! It allows you to get where you want to be faster, ditching all the excuses to your lack of success!
YES, time management is a mirror and sometimes a painful mirror, of where you are still not fully stepping into your success, that is a topic for another time ??
Time is a tangible and practical way to measure:
- Your commitment to making your dreams happen
- How much you procrastinate
- How you prioritize your actions
- How much effort goes into creating a product or service and the price you are asking
- The balance between your time spent and the money you make
This gives a serious reality check of where you are in business, even when you have reached a certain level of success.
So how does time management allow you to see the opportunities?
When you prioritize your actions in a timely manner, building from one day to the next, you create awareness and focus. You create moments where your brain can switch on and off. Those moments where your brain is switched off are essential to help you process and create new space for ideas to pop up.
Did you ever get a brilliant idea while walking in nature or when taking a shower? Or did you ever wake up in the middle of the night with the solution to a problem you tried to solve? This is where FLOW happens and where you create momentum.
Ideas and opportunities come in action AND when you conscientiously switch off from that action. Not when you keep pushing and keep working 24/7.
How to get you started:
1. Make a brain dump of all the tasks you hold on to in your head
2. Allocate time in your calendar to make it happen (starting with the one creating the biggest impact)
3. Take the time to plan your day ahead the evening before and evaluate at the end of the day (how much time did you allocate to a task and how much time did it really take?)
4. Where did you procrastinate and why?
Remember time-management is not to give you a stick to punish yourself for what you have not done, rather a tool to help you improve and learn how to reach your goal faster, make the impact you want to make and increase the profit you make in your business.
Time-management drives the intrinsic motivation to performance and success!
