Why Time Is 'The Elephant' In Design Room

If you're to categorize online visuals (especially on social media), they'd probably come under 2 broad work types - 1/ Instant, and 2/ Planned. Instant are the ones you see on TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, etc. where users in most instances just shoot and upload. On the other hand, the Planned works make up a chain of events starting usually with conceptualizing and ending with publishing.?
Now, visuals are not something smart businesses can do away with, that's for sure. The reality in fact is that every biz, small or big, need to have some skills for creating cool designs easy and fast.
That's where this newsletter seeks to position itself. The aim is to help you with useful tips for doing cool things with PowerPoint, Canva and Camtasia. This is the 1st edition, and I do hope to reach out to a large segment of readers that love and value designing visuals, especially video ads.
Dear readers, you're welcome to send any suggestions with regard to this newsletter or anything that you deem fit to point out. Thanks in advance!
With those words let me get down to today's business with the article below.

Why Time Is 'The Elephant' In Design Room
A question often asked of designers is this - how long would a design take??
It's a broad - okay, a very broad - question. I start with this in my first newsletter, because many of us (the clients) mostly generally have faint idea about the elephant in the 'design room'.?
It's the 'time' it ought to take to design something.
I say 'ought to' but more often than not, the cost for designing hardly follows the logic of 'ought to'. Instead, it usually oscillates like the pendulum of a wall clock. It varies from one end (let's say 'economical') to the other end (this should be 'exorbitant').?
Why the design cost varies so much is something I hope to dwell on some day.
This newsletter though is less about cost, more about time. Sure, more time = more cost, but that's another story.
For the moment, let me find out what they say about how long it takes to design different visuals.
1. Logo Design
According to Trillion Creative, a logo can take anywhere from a few minutes or several days to a few weeks for conceptualization and refinement, but realistically the process should take no more than a month to complete.

2. Poster Design
All Free Mockups say, depending on the level of detail you want in your poster and the number of revisions needed, it can take anywhere from a few hours to several days to create a basic poster design. However, if you need more complex graphics or require more revisions, it may take longer.
3. Website Design
A blog post on Wix says, making a website with a professional can take anywhere from two to five months. It goes on to add - Knowing how long it takes to design a website with a designer/developer, agency or team can help you decide if you’ll complete the process on your own or hire a professional.?
4. Video Ad Design
This is contentious. I'm not mentioning any source here, but 'depending on' what the client wants, the time can vary between 7-10 days to 3-4 months. Obviously, if it takes months, it would rather be commercial ads.?
Commercial ads are generally not for small biz, so for them an agreeable time ought to be 2-3 days at most. For, if it's anything more than say 4-5 days, the cost may become very high.?
Which is why customizable ad templates are the best bets for small business owners.?
True, the designs may not be exactly what you would want, but they are far better than doing by yourself from scratch (which can be time consuming yet can't guarantee good end results) or by hiring professionals who charge by the hours!!
That's all for today!
Look forward to hear your experience.
