Why Test Cases ??
Finally its about time , it took me several sleepless nights to write this (Yes because I work as a tester in a so called agile based project if you know what I mean ) but when you have passion towards something heck ya you will find time.
So, why do we need test cases ??
As a tester I was told to write the test cases for a feature but I kept thinking why(why testing) do we need test cases if we are writing test scenarios and I went googling (kind of fishing for an answer in an ocean ) and I found a bunch of answers but was not satisfied with it and if you ask me my personal opinion is “Good old way of writing test Cases are not Neededâ€
Let me explain……
The main intention of the test cases are “To note down all the unique ideas we get †so that we won’t forget later while testing, as testing evolves there are so many tools which helps us to remember all the different possible ways to test a feature even graphically(ex: Xmind) which requires less time compared to writing test cases(Testers biggest needed resource is time) and test cases are mainly needed for remembering and it doesn’t matter how you remember unless you are not missing any testing ideas regarding features, this is just a small example for why we don’t need test cases please let me know if you have different opinion.
“Testing is not about how many test cases I have written or how many bugs I have found â€â€” “ it is about increasing the value of the product by hunting things which are threatening the product value(not only bugs)â€
“make world a better place than yesterday by providing a better product†and we testers must be happy about it as we are spending most of our life doing it. (Yes I am)
My next WHY question “why are automation testers are paid more than manual testers†will be interesting for sure :)
