Recently, while having an informal conversation with clients over lunch in Delhi, we delved into the challenges of team management.
The leaders frequently used the term "employees," which sparked a thought-provoking discussion.
I pointed out that the term "employee" can sometimes carry a connotation that feels detached and impersonal.
Employee- Dictionary says- “ A person employed for wages or a salary.”
Term "Employee" can imply a hierarchical relationship where one party is simply working for another, rather than a collaborative partnership, This term may not reflect the mutual respect and shared goals that characterize a positive work environment.
I insisted on reconsidering the term "employee," explaining its literal meaning and the implications it carries.
The leaders felt that calling the team "family" wouldn’t be appropriate as it didn't match the organizational vibe they experienced.
"Family" contradicted letting people go if not performing.
They asked if there was a better term - one that wasn’t "family" but also wasn’t as distant as "employee"
After some contemplation, I introduced them to the term "Growth Tribe"
"Growth Tribe" isn’t just a trendy phrase; it represents a paradigm shift in how we view and engage with our teams:
?
Using "Growth Tribe" transforms how we think about our teams. It emphasizes that everyone is growing together, contributing to a shared vision, and supporting one another in a collaborative environment.
Next time you introduce your team, try saying, "Meet my Growth Tribe," and watch the energy and dynamics shift positively.
This term aligns with the collaborative spirit we strive for in our workplaces, cultivating the spirit of both personal and collective growth, that will help the client to grow as well.
P.S.: It’s not just a concept; it’s a proven approach that has made a significant impact.
"Growth Tribe" Is the Game-Changing Term, Your Organization Needs instead of Employee!
Does this resonate with you?
