Why Teams will be the Next Zoom

Why Teams will be the Next Zoom

When zoom came along and made online meetings a reality, we thought it had become the undisputed leader in the online meeting category.

But then Google Meet made things simpler and enticed us with their simplicity and ease of use.

Who knew that Microsoft Teams was working in the background and silently taking over this category.

They say that elephants can't dance and large corporations don't innovate fast enough, but with Teams, Microsoft is acting like a cool new startup.

First, they integrated Teams into your outlook in a very smooth way. So, when you send a calendar invite the Teams link is automatically populated, unless you switch it off.

(Remember how hotmail became famous in the 90s with their 'Free, trusted and rich email service.?Get it now' slogan?).

That line is now part of marketing history. I think the default setting that sends a Microsoft Teams link with every Outlook meeting request is another strategy that is headed for marketing books.)

With just one line of code, Microsoft is reaching over 400 million daily outlook users. Really cool.

What happens when you send a calendar invite? You get an alert 15 minutes ahead of the meeting.

What happens when guests enter the room but you are still on that call? You get an alert that someone is waiting in the virtual lobby.

What happens when your guest does not turn up for the meeting? You have the option to call them from Teams Itself.

If your meeting room is full and you want to put your participants into different rooms, you can use the breakout rooms to do that.

All of these are great features but what will make Microsoft Teams the dominant player in the Hybrid workplace of the future is the way they silently slipped the Teams Meeting link into our Outlook Box, which we are so familiar with.

If you are building a brand and have a way to integrate it with the user's daily habits, you are way ahead of the game.

Zoom came as a boon for people during pandemic times. The best part thing which helped them to grow was it was free. They used freemium model to penetrate.

Well teams is a much more powerful tool as compared to zoom. Zoom did gain popularity due to the free subscription that was easy to get and use initially but when you check the overall user base of teams that’s huge as compared to zoom.
