?????Stop throwing Spaghetti at the wall. Here's how to Create a Targeted Job Seach.
Have you ever found yourself interested in a particular company but unable to find any advertised job openings? Frustrating, right? Don't worry, I've got some tips to help you navigate the hidden job market and get your resume in front of the right people.
First, let's talk about targeting your ideal companies. Instead of aimlessly applying to any job opening you come across, try a more strategic approach. Identify the companies you're interested in and then find recruiters who are focused on the type of roles you're interested in. This way, you can introduce yourself and express your interest in potential roles in the future.
One way to connect with recruiters at your target companies is to reach out to those with the titles "Sourcer," "Sourcing Recruiter," or "Sourcing Specialist." These professionals are responsible for building pipelines of talent for future roles.
Another approach is to connect with hiring managers in your field. They may be able to provide insight into upcoming job openings or even create a position for you if they see potential in your skills and experience.
And don't forget about the power of your network. You may know someone who knows about unadvertised job openings or upcoming vacancies. It only takes one conversation to change the entire trajectory of your job search.
So, instead of flooding a company's career page with applications, try these three-way networking strategies:
Remember, people hire people, not computers. So, take the time to make meaningful connections and express your interest in future opportunities.
This is a new Linkedin Feature was created just for you, so I am featuring it here in the Career Corner:
Company Culture is more important today than it ever has been.
Personally, it would be in my top 3 must-have list if I were looking for a job. Now, the type of culture can be different for each of us, but I think we can agree that it is important to all of us.
In today’s market, job seekers are increasingly prioritizing a company’s culture and values as a determining factor in their job search. As a response, LinkedIn has created Talent Interest Pipeline, a feature to enable members to express interest in working for your company, without applying for a specific role.?
With this feature, you can more easily find candidates who are already interested in working for your company and possess the same values. When job seekers click the?I’m interested?button on a company’s?About?page, they will be searchable by using the?Interested in your company?Spotlight in Recruiter and will have an “Interested in your company” tag on their Profile in Recruiter.?
You can also learn about a company’s commitments on its LinkedIn Page and signal your interest in working there when you see an ‘I’m interested’ button in the ‘About’ tab. This will spotlight your LinkedIn Profile with hirers using LinkedIn’s Recruiter tool, helping you further stand out.
Here’s my advice. It’s time to manage your career. Stop letting an organization or your boss manage your career for you. It's time to take ownership and create a strategy. Gone are the days of staying with a company for 10,20 or even 30 years. The average time at a job today?? 3.5 years!
Ready to learn how to become the CEO of your CAREER in 2023, let's talk about what that looks like.
?? ? Linkedin Features you need to know about (and maybe use)
Truth be told I don't know which of the 50+ features I should share with you. I mean there are so many! Here are 3 a few that I think are worth including.
?[I'm Interested] will help Job Seekers directly signal interest in working for a *Company, from their Company page. Once you click [I'm Interested] your profile and information will then be privately shared directly with the Company *Recruiters to consider you for a role in the future (Hidden Jobs).
[Job recommendations] show us Jobs based sourced by AI on our Job Searches, Job Alerts, Open to preferences, Profile, and Activity on LinkedIn
[Pre-approved group membership] is an AI-driven invite to Groups that have a focus that matches your activity. The notification that you've been added to a group provides you a 7-day notice and the hyperlinked option to Opt Out.
I got my first one, and I'm not a fan of being automatically added to a group that I've never heard of or searched for. I think a better option would be a notification to join a group that might be of interest to you.
[Notification filters] This one I LOVE!
This feature is an added benefit to handling our notifications. Let's be real they can stack up quickly. You can now sort notifications by (All) (My posts) & (Mentions). When you click on (My Posts) you'll get a ?? click again to get a dropdown box of sub-filters for: My Posts | Comments, My Posts | Reactions & My Posts | Reposts

?? Coffeeshop of the Month
While I was in San Diego for Social Media Marketing World,? I scheduled a photo shoot with my Podcast host, Laura Bashore. The original spot that we thought would be perfect turned out to be small and crowded,? so we Google’d Coffee shops and headed over to Mostra Coffee. Mostra Coffee is a lovely spot with an outdoor garden-style area and the most delicious cookies and savory specialty coffees. We all enjoyed our coffee, and cookies and even had a successful photoshoot.
If you’re in San Diego stop by and treat yourself!
Here are a couple of photos from our photoshoot in March.

1 年MARY FAIN BRANDT you have great points here and i enjoy the newsletter. I was not aware of the mentions section as LI keeps changing so this is good to know. Also i totally agree with reaching out to recruiters at the companies to see if you can connect with someone even if there is no job and the titles you used are not all the ones i use so good advice.
