eCommerce Web Developers are realizing that they can generate more revenue by building their own ecommerce brands instead of working for clients. This is because they have the ability to apply their skills and knowledge without any barriers such having to constantly struggle with clients who do not see the value in their work or are constantly trying to pay less for their services. If you are a skillful ecommerce developer and are not using the revenue you generate from clients to launch your own ecommerce brands you are doing it wrong.
The issue with working for clients is that you need to constantly deal with the negative criticism or complaints from clients that will try their hardest to lower your rates. This is why they have SEO firms and developers who work on a freelance basis while only generating small amounts of revenue in comparison to what they could be generating if they had more control over their creations.
This has been my primary mindset since 2018 when I was making good money by building ecommerce sites for clients but it wasn't enough because I knew I could build something bigger on my own. You are able to generate much more revenue as an entrepreneur versus a developer who works for other brands because you are in full control over the direction of your work and do not have to deal with unnecessary setbacks such as clients who demand a lower price for your services.

There are also many businesses that are failing because first time entrepreneurs were so blinded by their own excitement, vision, and determination that they spent all their money on marketing tactics that did not generate any revenue in return. This is why ecommerce businesses have a failure rate of 30% in the first year according to Statista.
I am currently in my second year with two separate ecommerce brands but it is only getting bigger as more revenue is generated from both businesses. I encourage all my developer friends to consider starting your own brands and consider client services as a way to generate revenue that can be reinvested into your own stores.
