Why Taking Chances is Good for Business

Taking Chances Could Save?Your Business

A post by Inc.com’s Jeff Hayden on taking chances has a very important message for business owners. He speaks of taking chances in many ways and how good that could be for your life and business.

Why don’t business people take chances they could easily afford to take? Fear of making mistakes and losing face? It could be you may have to establish a reputation for taking chances -- to be the courageous?superhero pushing the envelope for success.?

Perhaps, you should think like a content strategist and try something new to test it and see how it does. That new item you choose to sell, that new website you build, the social media campaign, that new market you enter could be the breakout decision that saves your company or makes a fortune. Jeff Hayden says you need to take chances.

A Chance Really Ain’t No Big?Thang

Most business owners and hiring managers are capable of taking a chance to hire someone out of the mold, someone with unique ideas, and break their common habit.

They can afford it. If it doesn’t work out, that’s fine. Just agree at the beginning that it’s an experiment. If you're a manager, have a management plan to control and evaluate your experiment --- find out what works and what doesn't.

It's vital for business people to experiment, to discover and test out new opportunities. Whether it’s you as an employee venturing out in a new job, or an employer bringing in someone new with a boatload of crazy new ideas, or a business pursuing sales in a new market, taking chances is the beginning of growth.

It may be the start of the biggest successes your business has ever had.

Break Away from your Dull Routines

There’s something about such random activities that stirs up opportunity. Opportunity doesn’t come in predictable ways. It shows up in the chaos of competition, change, and pursuit. And seeing how change is so rapid today, what other choice is there?

Richard Branson is dyslexic, does wild exciting things, and is a good humanitarian. Would you hire him to start something new?

For business, one of the best chances you can take is to hire someone new, who isn’t in the common, dull, boring, and predictable category. Their uniqueness can inspire your staff to try something new, to learn, grow and be more productive.

Many businesses die because the staff, the routine, the limited philosophy, and the status quo kills any incentive for growth and improving the businesses value proposition. Businesses fail because the owner/manager didn’t take chances.

Hire Someone New, Unique and Unusual

From Jeff Hayden’s Article:

I took an informal poll of a number of entrepreneur friends. Each said at least one of their most remarkable employees ( here's how to tell if an employee is remarkable) was a person they took a chance on -- someone who didn't have the "right" qualifications, or didn't have the "right" background"

If you don’t change your usual philosophy, habits, and routines, you’ll get the same results, or your great progress will be short lived.

Even if the new person doesn’t work out in their spot, the event will have changed you.?You’ll improve your ability take chances and find new, exciting ways to grow your business. Common won't help you grow your business in today's climate.

Hiring practices can be a process where you test out improvements.?Most businesses today are rich with cash and nowhere to spend it. Now’s the time to make some unique additions and discover who really can make your business better.

And if it doesn’t work out, it’s not the end of world. If it does work out, your brand image will rocket along with your company’s performance.

Ask your recruiter for someone different, unique, talented, bold, and energetic?--- someone who breaks the mold of ordinary. Give this person all the freedom they need to create amazing new opportunities and to capitalize on them.

These are good times right now. Show your courage to take your company where it needs to go. Take a small risk?and welcome in someone who will give your business a lift.
