At Ledger , I lead the efforts to partner with insurers to grow the casualty and non-cat property ILS asset class.

My first posts will be a three-part true or false blog series to play on current market perception vs reality. I’ll cover a vision on where the market might be headed. Ledger estimates ILS will be a $1T asset class. That’s not ‘niche’.?

How did I get into casualty ILS?

I had my first ‘aha’ moment that casualty ILS was truly possible when I started at Praedicat and saw that not only quantifying both frequency and severity for systemic casualty was possible, but also cash flows.

That third dimension would be key to structuring and pricing ILS transactions. I was so motivated to get the market moving that I presented on casualty ILS at the ILS Bermuda Convergence event in 2016.?

Since then, I haven’t been able to get my hands on much information for casualty ILS, beyond the great work Artemis.bm does to educate and inform the market. I aim to change that.

Now I’m working for a company that is 100% focused on making casualty and non-property ILS happen. When I heard about the recent Series B at Ledger Investing and saw a successful volume of casualty business, I jumped on board.
