WHY STRUGGLE WITH CHANGE?

I don't know about you, but I have been hearing this line for decades: "people hate change!" Now 40 years ago it was easy to feel that way, even mean it. The world however, especially the world of work has had change as its' middle name for years and years. I believe we can now stop talking about change and hate in the same sentence. The changes that have taken place in my work life are mind-boggling. There are very few similarities to the way I worked in 1985 and how I get things done today.

In the "old days" I had two assistants, a car phone, and lots of legal pads for notes and ideas. We had no mobile devices and the only "computers" were our new computerized cash registers at all of our stores. Today, I have no assistants, no car phone, however I continue to use yellow legal pads for note-taking. I do work daily on a laptop, with the rest of my work done on my mobile phone and iPad, including e-mails, texts, photos, and yes, even ideas and new thoughts.

Change circa 2019 is now a daily thing. We are so used to it, that we don't even think about it...heck we don't have time. We Baby Boomers realized years ago that if we wanted to survive in this new world we would need to get on board. We are: all 78 million of us. Just look at us, in coffee shops, at airports, anywhere where business is being done we are there with the same technology as other generations of workers. Change is now part of this ever-expanding life. It does feel great to understand the devices that the grandkids take for granted. As our generation continues to get younger in mind, in thought, and with our dreams, we know we will need to keep getting up early in order to keep up with this ever-changing world. Thank you.

I totally agree with you Jack Dillon.? We live with change and adapt irrespective of how old we are!
