Why Stress Management is CRITICAL to your Success

If you’re like most people, you’re busy making things HAPPEN.

??Hitting Goals.

??Checking things off the list.

??Networking - all.the.time

And these things take a LOT of energy and intentional effort.

Because the brain isn’t wired for RISKS and works hard to keep us safe, the brain has to use SO much energy and effort when you’re doing things that are pushing you far outside of your comfort zone.

And chances are, if you’re a successful professional, you don’t stay very long in the comfort zone, right?

The problem with STRESS is that we don’t often feel it or know it’s lurking underneath the surface until BAM! - we're sick.

With 80-90% of all illness and disease being stress-related, it’s no secret that stress-management is CRITICAL for overall wellness and … HEALTH.

You may be thinking (I’ve heard this MANY times), “I don’t have stress. I feel okay.”

While you may feel okay NOW, that doesn’t necessarily mean you've got a great stress management plan (unless you really do have practices in place to help you process and release stress on a regular basis).

About 6 years ago, I was working really hard as a math teacher. I was pregnant and due in the Spring. On January 23, my daughter was born 2 months early and my life changed in a HUGE way.

If you or anyone you know has had a premature baby, life that first year is HARD for the baby. But it’s also REALLY hard for the parents. It was hard to focus on my own healing so I didn’t.

Shortly after, I got sick.

Dizziness. Fatigue. Pain.

Doctor after Doctor... no diagnosis.

The only option at that point was for me to take 100% responsibility for my own health. After finding EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), I was finally able to make huge strides with my healing journey. To learn more about EFT, check out this video.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have wellness tools.

I didn’t know that Stress (and Emotional) Management isn’t pushing things away, putting them in a box, and hoping they disappear.

I had no idea ‘what you resist, persists’.

And honestly, I was almost 30 years old and I guess I never really 'needed' them.

Even if your life is GOOD right now.

You’re feeling great.

Your personal and professional life are blending well.

You’re feeling fulfilled in many areas of life.

REMEMBER - Life has its ups and downs. They’re inevitable.

When you’re on the UP swing, something is coming your way that may throw you slightly off track … it could be something teeny or something a bit larger.

But LIFE is continuously happening around us.

Do you have tools to get you back on track?

If you'd like to check out EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or Tapping and add it to your toolbox, send me a message and let me know. I'd love to support you on your personal wellness journey.

With Peace ??

As The Dr. Oz Show points out, even good stress is still Stress & affects & triggers the same areas of the brain but can positively affect the body also.

I think most people don’t understand there are two types of stress—distress and eustress.

Definitely something I need to work on, and I appreciate the insight! Trying to work things like guided meditation into my routine and research things like Jon Macaskill has been talking about (mindfulness meditation). I'm 31, and I don't want to fall into the trap that I see some struggling with:?Enduring a burnout lifestyle until?it's time?to draw a 401K. Easy trap to fall into in my industry. I feel lucky/blessed to have clarity and see some specific problems to solve to get out of that, but they are not short term problems. Part of that involves starting a second BA next month, so I realize that I'm about to exponentially increase the stress that I'm placing on myself for the next 2 years or so.?My stress management practices have always been subpar?at best, as I've?typically just tried to endure?a stressful pace until things work out. Trying to be more proactive now :).
