When I first realized I was suffering from chronic stress and burnout I thought in order to heal I had to get rid of all my stressors.?
I was seeking stress relief so didn’t that mean no stress? Becoming stress free?
If that was the case it would have meant:
?? Quitting my 6-figure copywriting & messaging strategy business
?? Leaving my husband and pretending like I didn’t have 3 step kids
?? Telling my mom to handle her chronic illness on her own
?? Giving back the puppy we’d just rescued from a sanctuary in Mexico
?? Abandoning my car on the side of the road when I got a nail in my tire
And plenty of other “stressful” things that came and went through my days.?
That STILL come and go throughout my days.?
Because here’s the rub… stressors aren’t miraculously going away.?
AND (this is a biggie)...
Even if you DO address the cause of your stress (the job, partner, puppy etc.) it doesn’t mean you’ve addressed the stress itself.?
Here’s what I mean:
Stressors are what activate the stress response in your body. Anything you can see, hear, smell, touch, taste, or imagine can do you harm.
We have external stressors like work, money, family, time, cultural and societal norms and expectations, discrimination, and so on.?
And then there are the less tangible internal stressors like self-criticism, self-doubt, body image, memories, and trying to predict the future.?
Your body interprets all these stressors in various ways as potential threats.?
Stress is the neurological and physiological shift that happens in your body when you encounter a threat.
Your entire body and mind change in response to perceived threats.?
We start to suffer the effects of chronic stress and burnout when we get stuck in that stress response. When we don’t tap into our available resources to complete what author and stress expert Dr. Emily Nagoski calls “the stress cycle.”

???? Complete and utter “tired to the bone” exhaustion?
The list goes on.?
