Why Streaming TV Advertising?

I've recently come across a couple of clients who have spent on Traditional TV advertising and when Streaming TV (STV) came up in discussions, the assumption was...

"Oh streaming tv, that's probably way too expensive for us!"

I live in this digital marketing space every day so it was a good reminder that for many business owners & decision-makers who don't, there may be assumptions that they have stopping them from advancing their business on platforms that could really help them grow & evolve.

I've also experienced some STV providers who perhaps haven't trained their staff or continued to educate them on these platforms. Why? I've seen a number of them sell it exactly as they sell their traditional platforms. Channel/Content, time of day, day of week and more. I'm not saying that's bad but for TARGETED Digital Marketing or Streaming Platforms, go after your ideal audience.

Is that a homeowner who has a household income of $100K+ within a 20-mile radius of your location? Then target them that way. As they bounce around consuming the content they like to watch, if the consumer is watching on a platform that has ad space and they meet the criteria you're targeting, then your ad can serve to them!

Reduce waste while increasing the frequency your message can deliver to your desired audience!

The concern above on cost, if you're doing the targeting described above, may actually allow you to reach people with good frequency for not a large budget making TV Advertising more affordable and perhaps, more efficient in some ways.

Does it replace traditional media? No (not yet anyway). Does it complement a lot of the things a business can do today? Absolutely. Can STV help make a business more trustworthy & recognizable? Heck ya.

What I've seen it help with:

  • Increased Brand Name search in both Paid & Organic search results
  • Get businesses ahead of their competition where there is one of a few local advertisers running ads on STV Platforms (will continue to become adopted more every year so do it sooner rather than later!)
  • In some cases, it can help build a company's brand equity with younger demographics who have never seen a cable box or watched traditional media. Maybe they're not your ideal audience today. Every year that passes your current audience ages up and eventually out while the younger demographics move into your audience sweet spot. Build your recognition now!
  • Recruitment - everyone is competing for hiring today. Why your organization? Who are you? Do people even know you exist?

Bottom line, there is a lot Streaming TV Advertising can do for a business and yet it may not actually break your marketing budget so dive in and find out!
