"WHY IS IT?"
Have you ever asked yourself why certain things are like they are? For instance, why is it people argue to defend free speech but only if the speech agrees with their mindset? Why is it people clamor for special treatment then complain if they get treated differently than someone else? Why is it that people advocate gun control but not alcohol or automotive restrictions, both of which are responsible for more deaths and injuries than fire arms? I know the list could go on and on.
There are many things we will encounter in life that we may look at and wonder why it is like it is. One of the questions I ask myself is, why is it people claim to be Christians, yet don’t follow the Bible? Don’t you ever wonder how Christianity, based on the word of God, has become so divided in belief and practice? The Bible does not mince words when it says in Ephesians 4:4-6-4 There is one body and one Spirit-- just as you were called to one hope when you were called-- 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Seven times Paul stresses there is one. I have been asked many times by different people, “What faith are you?” My answer is always the same, “I am a Christian.” They usually say, “No I mean what faith, what church do you attend?” Friends, if there is only one faith doesn’t it kind of make this question useless?
In the first four chapters of I Corinthians, Paul speaks about the importance of unity and not divisions in the church. Divisions are prevalent today and many Christians are following a man’s doctrine and not the Lord’s. They have allowed a false teacher to teach them “what their itching ears want to hear.”
Man deciding to change God’s word is nothing new. Why is it we know that God is all-knowing, yet sometimes think we (mankind) know more? Why is it we know the promises of God, yet still often fail to live like we know them? We can ask why is it all day long. What we need to do is look at God’s word and say “That’ the way it is!”
