Why Starving Yourself Healthy Is A Bad Idea

Dear executive.
You're sick of feeling tired all of the time.
You hate that none of your good clothes fit you.
Your health worries you.
The problem is you can't seem to fix the problem permanently. You lose a few kilos and then gain it back. And you've done this over and over again for many years.
One huge mistake busy execs make is they try to starve themselves into being healthy and toned.
The reason this is common is because they want fast results -- I understand the mindset but it rarely works.
Here's why extremely low-calorie diets are a bad idea:
1) Hunger is hard to deal with long-term
Being hungry all of the time sucks.
It makes you 'food focused' and that's never a good place to be.
In reality, most men don't have the willpower to deal with being hungry for very long - typically a point comes where they snap.
This causes a binge that either slows down results or causes them to quit.
Either way, I'm guessing you don't want to be constantly hungry for the next 3-6 months, right?
2) Muscle loss
Extremely low-calorie diets can cause muscle loss.
I can't stress how bad this is for you.
Firstly, it leads to what most describe as a 'skinny fat' physique. Many men tell me they were disappointed with their results in the past because they looked like a smaller version of how they started.
Not athletic, strong or toned.
Secondly, losing muscle reduces your metabolism.
This means you won't be able to eat as much food and maintain your new weight.
Thirdly, your body senses that it's lost muscle and it wants to fix that. It does that by increasing your APPETITE.
This is one of the reasons men finish a weight loss journey and then eat so much food that they gain the weight back.
3) It's restrictive
By default, being constantly hungry means you aren't eating many calories.
And if you haven't got many calories to use then that means you don't get a lot of choice or variety with foods.
If I'm eating 1500 calories AND getting enough protein that would only leave me with 700 calories spare - not much, right?
This makes sticking to the diet very challenging, especially during work trips, travelling, and when entertaining clients.

4) Awful energy levels
Low-calorie diets will make you lethargic.
It causes a ton of problems for professional men who need to perform in the boardroom and then be useful husbands and fathers in the evening.
Feeling exhausted all of the time isn't what you want.
You want to feel energised and motivated.
But you won't experience that with extremely low-calorie diets.
So, what's the alternative?
I've found that executives over 40 do better with a more steady approach to weight loss.
You can do this by ensuring you start your weight loss journey with the right number of calories each day.
I once had a client who always started his journey with 1500 calories. It never worked.
I started him off with 3500...
After losing 7.5 stone his calories still didn't drop below 2500.

1 年I don’t 100% agree with you. I have done 7 day distilled water only fasts and they have done wonders for my health. Fasting is in the Bible. Jesus did it for 40 days and 40 nights. Ghandi used to walk miles from village to village proselytizing with only drinking water flavored with lemon and honey 30+ days with no food and he was strong as an ox. It’s a tool that can revitalize and heal. And one can still get to gaining strength. That being said I still love your message and what you are about. Being an exec and out of shape sucks. You are doing great work. Keep it up ??.
