Why Software Testing will see a rapid change in 2023?

The software testing is rapidly changing with the rapid pace of technological advancement and the increasing complexity of software development requiring organizations to implement new practices and tools.

For sure Automation is one big thing that will continue and will be even more popular.

Let’s look into some of the popular trends in 2023 that can change the way we see Software Testing.

Digital World:

Digital transformation is a trend that has begun and many companies are using digital technology to digitize non-digital products, operations, and services to improve customer experience, productivity, and streamline business processes.

This transformation comes with many challenges, such as privacy and security.

Software testing is an essential part of digital transformation. It allows companies to ensure that their software works well and is safe to use.

It is important to have the appropriate skills and experience for testers. They also need to be familiar with the latest technologies and best practices.

They must test a range of scenarios using a variety browsers, OS, and machine configurations.

Scaled Agile Development:

Organizations are going beyond the regular Agile way of development and are adopting the SAFe frameworks that allows software development teams to deliver products and services at a higher pace. It uses a combination of agile and lean principles to facilitate collaboration and alignment across teams.

As the world of software development is increasingly fast-paced and results-driven, organizations must deliver products at a rapid rate. To achieve this, teams have adopted Agile / Scrum and/or Lean development models.

SAFe is a framework that scales these practices to large enterprises and helps them meet their business goals in a more centralized manner. It offers a knowledge base of proven, integrated principles, practices and competencies that support enterprise agility using Lean, Agile and DevOps.

The Testers role is more crucial in SAFe framework which requires critical and quality-oriented thinking.

In SAFe, testers work closely with developers and business representatives to deliver a high-quality product that meets the customer's needs. They use communication and collaboration to identify defects early, before they become large problems that negatively impact the user experience.

QAOps:

To deliver high-quality software, more and greater numbers of organizations are adopting this approach.

Also, the main focus is to address the communication gap between the QA teams and the development teams.

Quality Assurance and Software Operations in short is called as QAOps.

It is the framework that integrates QA into the CI/CD process with a DevOps mindset.

In order to speed up development cycles and ensure quality, automated testing, smoke testing and regression testing are all part of the QAOps pipeline.

More Automation:

This is the era of scriptless automation and hyper-automation.

Recent research has shown that organizations are moving away from manual processes and in favour of widespread adoption and use of test automation.

Software development companies are increasingly training manual testers in automation. Much of the manual work is being done with scriptless automation testing.

Scriptless (or Codeless) testing is becoming more popular as the tester does not have to write a single line.

Scriptless automation frameworks offer flexibility for testers through the provision of reusable components, scaleability and extensibility.

And with the advent of AI, testing capabilities have become more sophisticated and are more easily accessible to a wider variety of QA teams.

These are my forecasts and others who have invested or planning to invent in this industry should monitor these trends.
