Why so much fuss about TCS closing Lucknow Office ?

Here to expose fake influencers and educate vulnerable people. Some one called me Influslayer! Fighting plagiarism. Believer of 'Nothing is impossible'. What I express here is personal & nothing to do with my Company.
For the reasons best known to TCS, they decided to close the Lucknow centre. They have every right to do it!
Now what is it all about ?
- There are silent marches.
- There are protests by employees.
- Ex-Chief Minister says he will talk to TATAs.
- Amit Shah, the most powerful BJP Man says he will intervene.
- CM - Yogi ji says he will look into the matter.
- Citizens support the staff .
- Staff want to write to Home Minister of India
- Staff wants Prime Minister to intervene
Every one is asking TCS to not to close operations in Lucknow.
What if...
...If TCS had slowly transferred willing people to locate to another Branch?
...if some people are given pink slips?
...if some people are promoted and ask them to trim the staff? After they do, move these 'leaders' to another branch?
Why can't you protest?
You are an employee and did you indicate that you want to work only in one city where you are born and brought up?
If you were offered a job in another city , you would not have joined ?
Now that you gained some experience, why not you look for another job else where?
I sincerely feel that forcing management to not to close operations, though they are convinced that it is not viable, is not going to do any good for any. Sooner or later, you may lose job or you yourself may look for a job! Just because there is some sympathy, you can not force a company to withdraw the decision.
I can sympathise with the people who are protesting, but, they need to think positively and move forward. There is no permanent employment in today's World !

7 年You are right ... there is no permanent employment in today's world ... what is then wrong in fighting for one's employment if change is not sought to right now? Are you unaware of the Indian Culture of companies asking for huge concessions in the name of generating employment? Are you perhaps so convinced of the superiority of top management that they have definitely looked into every possible alternative before judging to close their office? What's wrong with fighting for one's employment in your eyes? Just seeking clarity that is all. After all the only way companies in India seem to be keeping afloat at all is by playing with employment.
I do like the problem-solving approach style of writing ; very refreshing
An excellent post, but slightly difficult to read and understand due to the use of negatives and questions ... for example "I sincerely feel that forcing management to not to close operations, though they are convinced that it is not viable, is not going to do any good for any" and "You are an employee and did you indicate that you want to work only in one city where you are born and brought up? " Is that a question or a suggestion ? I grew up in India and learned English and Hindi and Marathi and it became very confusing. So then my Dad explained it to make it clearer; he informed me India was into hypnosis and suggestive mind control and then I learned language even more seriously.

7 年So, all these years the office is productive and suddenly they realize they can't run and ask employees to leave immediately? I know how it works... they don't have guts to say in public that are not performing well. 2016-17 had met expectations. 2017-18 profits decreased and closed an office. What if they see losses? Will they shutdown whole TCS?
