Why are so many corporate events aimed at men?
If I could count the number of times I have been asked for bubble football or go karting for a mixed team of men and women... In response to my question, “do you think something aimed less at the men in your office would be helpful?” I have had answers like, “they won’t mind”, “can’t women do go karting?” or “oh it will be ok.”
…You know what, it’s not OK.
I know we are not quite there yet, but British working culture is reaching a place where equality for men and women in the workplace is the norm and so it should be. So why-oh-why are so many of my clients still asking for events that are aimed entirely at men. This is not to say women can’t go kart, and quite frankly, maybe some men don’t enjoy go karting.
To build a positive atmosphere in the company it is highly important to create a respectful environment for all members of staff where everyone feels appreciated. When considering what kind of corporate event your company will organise, make sure that it fits the bill for everyone regardless of their gender.
Some corporate event ideas:
-Escape room
-Team building with bite
-Outdoor adventure/ climbing park
-Doing street art together
-Laser tag
-Cocktail Masterclass
-Cooking class
Men clearly do less spelling punctuation and grammar.
Team Building Through Animal Welfare
6 年Thank you Heath! Many people assume our team builds with drills and saws are aimed at men, but they are meant to be empowering for everyone who participates. The number of ladies who start out saying they have never used a drill before, and by the end are asking where we buy our drills from makes me think we should be getting some commission from Screwfix!
