Preparation
My mentor, who is an entrepreneur, always told me this — 5P’s
Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. I’ll shed some light on this. If you have never sold a product, how can you run and manage a sales and marketing firm? Don’t just plan and prepare for the summer or spring. Prepare yourself for the winter as well. Folks, winter comes right before summer. One wins every battle before fighting it.
Initiative
Volunteer for challenging tasks and lead by example. As Lara Hogan says
Be a thermostat, not a thermometer.
Willing to extra mile, and put yourself out there despite the risk of failure. Let me tell their brief story. The way I do the interview (Group Style) for my company is after breaking our day-to-day operations. I ask them, Do you see yourself doing it on a day-to-day basis? Everyone will instantly tell you yes. Then I put them on the spot, asking, Who can sell this product to a customer? Or who can pitch this product to me? This makes everyone nervous. But I hire the ones that put themselves first. There will always be at least one candidate who says, I’ll do it, regardless of their familiarity with the project or product. This is what’s called initiative. Please hire that candidate if you decide to do it my way.
Innovative
Your creation must add value to your business. Your system or product must function more effectively than the current one. Like Steve Jobs always said,
Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.
Discover a top-notch product to sell that effectively solves problems for people. Focus on solving problems instead of worrying about profits. If your product sucks, then your business does the same. You must find out if an innovative idea saves your business time and money.
Determination
Do you have what it takes to win? You need to find the thing that motivates you. Without motivation, your life is like drinking coffee without sugar. Don’t get me wrong, black coffee is not bad, but it doesn’t hit the spot.
There is always a way — If you are committed.
Well-determined entrepreneurs can push through tough times and still succeed. Determination can enhance employee engagement, productivity, and creativity. My mentor always used to tell me that Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.

Accountability
You need to take ownership of your tasks and mistakes when they happen. Hold yourself accountable.
Don’t Blame Others— Blame Yourself.
Accountability will boost client satisfaction, employee engagement, and performance.
Networking
Networking usually opens the door for you that would have otherwise remained closed. In this era, resources are countless. Make it worth it. My mentor always used to tell me.
Surround yourself with people who you want to be like.
If you hang out with 10 millionaires, guess who the 11th millionaire will be — You. Yes, you heard it right. Think about it logically. It makes sense. Success breeds success. I often do this if I see a successful individual. I ask them, How did you do it? They most likely won the lottery if they didn’t divulge the secret. Find someone else. But often successful people help people in need.
Forward Thinking
A forward-thinking mindset is proactive, instead of reactive. Forward thinkers always plan for their future. They see the bigger picture and ask what’s in it for me. If it is worth it, they invest or they wander away.
Stay ahead of the game.
Always think about the next step before you ever take it. A person who is a forward thinker not only prepares for today but puts strategies for tomorrow.
