Why Slow & Steady Wins The Race?

Something Silly:

What you think of as a day – how long it takes the Earth to rotate – isn’t?24 hours. It’s 23hrs, 56 minutes, and 4.2 seconds but who's counting.

Something Serious:

Sometimes Slow and Steady wins the race.?

This expression means that consistency, although progress may be slow, will eventually be more beneficial than being hasty or careless just to get something done.

The world is moving at light speed but that doesn’t mean you have to keep up (all the time). Sometimes slowing down is the best thing to do. Here are some ways to start:

  • Focus on Being (more) Present and strive for real connection
  • Be of Service and go help someone else do something
  • Limit Distractions and engage in blocking out non-essentials
  • Do Less, reprioritize your top 3 most important items for the day?
  • Disconnect from all technology. Unplug to recharge.
  • Single Task vs. Multi-Task. Your brain will thank you now (and later).
  • Spending time in nature?has been proven?to have a host of physical and mental health benefits.
  • Take three 3 deep breaths or focus on your breathing for 60 seconds

In a world defined by followers, fanfare, and viral minutes… being alone and creating vulnerable moments is invaluable.?

Great message Joshua Miller, as you said if we can give to others, let's do it!

I always said “slow down to speed up”. Doing a task quickly always results in rework, often several reworks. In total this takes more time than slowing down and doing the task properly once.

Joshua Miller, you're so right! We're so busy catching up and throwing out the old we've lost sight of the value of slow and steady and tried and true! The ability to move quickly is certainly needed and valuable in these changing times but the ability to keep steady and consistent is needed too....? One of the keys is in the wisdom too know when to focus on which!

Love this! I’ve been trying to be more present and when I have the breath work has helped a lot. Reflecting back on the year and honestly the last ten or so, it is not that I missed the scenery or knowing where I was headed but it’s the enjoyment factor. Thanks, Joshua!
