Why Sleuthdog?

In or around 2003, I attended a Physical Surveillance course. I was working for the National Department of Health as a forensic analyst doing toxicological analysis. The other delegates called me "Bloed" (Afrikaans for blood).

I assumed this was because I worked with blood and other human tissue and fluids. However, during the compulsory pub lunch at the end of the course, one of my fellow delegates asked me if I knew why they called me "Bloed". I was incorrect, they called me "Bloed" because I was like a bloodhound once on the trail of a target! I was the only person to have carried out reconnaissance of our surveillance target's secondary pickup point, so when our target didn't show at the primary pickup I was able to guide the teams to the secondary point.

While signing up for the Wild Dogs Forum, an online forum for adventure bikers, I had to give a "Handle", "Bloed" didn't seem like a good handle for a motorcyclist, and "Bloodhound" sounds too dramatic, so "Sleuthdog" came into being. My tenacity on a trail has been confirmed throughout my career, but never more so than when Director Booysen's (Cato Manor) sidekick stated: "If this is how you keep your distance from a case I don't want to be the case you take an interest in."?
