Why sleep improves your health

For the past 3 years, I have been trying to use a bedtime concept for myself. No, I am not a kid and my parents want me to sleep to go to school. Having a bedtime is key to your health. Many people do not realize it and take sleep as something not important.

In this article I want to share my experience of having such a routine and what is the best way you can fall to sleep. start, I would love to share a quote from the book Why We Sleep written by an English scientist Matthew Walker. Which is “The shorter your sleep, the shorter your life span”. Such a profound quote if you think about it and how much abuse our bodies have endured due to the lack of sleep. you heard that there are the right hours to sleep within and that will explain the letter. Back to Dr. Walker’s quote, when we sleep shorter, we are killing ourselves by shortening our life span.

Dr Walker in his book further highlights that sleeping for 8-hours improves:

1. Your cognitive thinking

2. Prevents heart and diabetes diseases

3. Prevents Alzheimer’s and dementia

4. Increase your life span and longevity.

Here are 4 tips I would like to share:

1. No social media after 8 p.m.: I know this is hard for most of us but this helps to sleep better. Try to disconnect from all social media platforms till the next day.

2. Drink hot herbs: I sometimes like to drink some hot herbs that make me relax and put my body in a relaxing mood.

3. Sleep before midnight: We say we need 7-8 hours of sleep every day. But when should our bedtime be? Research has found that if you start sleeping between 9-10 pm has a positive impact on your health.

4. Sleep meditation: Yes, do a sleep meditation every day and this will help you sleep and be well rested.

These tips have worked with me and they are not that difficult. Many people ask me how my social life is. Well, your social life is important no doubt but your health is more important. Your friends and family will respect your place and evening routine. The routine should not be rigid also, if you are going out remember you need to sleep early the next day.
