Why should you be worried about ants?

A few ants in your office, marching along, or meandering in your staff canteen, maybe even zig-zagging in your kitchen? They are not benign, do not ignore them.

Ants are amazing, complex and hugely successful insects, they have the capacity to build little underground cities, with thriving communities. they build nests that measure around 10 metres square, with an average nest holding 20,000 workers and ONE Queen. Those 20,000 workers will have a variety of jobs, many will be designated foragers, visiting your business, looking for sweet substances, such as spilled drinks, sugars, sandwiches, buns and any substance that will feed the nest. remarkably, they have a similar sense of smell to a dog. So anything that's left lying around will certainly be found by them, then it's PARTY time..

They lay pheromone trails, which the other ants can follow, pouring hot water or dusting a few ants with powder does not remove the trail, it certainly does not remove the risk of cross-infection. When an ant walks on, forages in or comes into contact with something that's laden with germs, they don't wash themselves before walking those germs right into your business.
