Why should you use Google Display ads?

So, you’ve decided to take a running leap into the world of paid advertising.??????
However, when you set your account up, you’re bamboozled by all the different ad types available. There are search ads, YouTube ads, shopping ads, and the ever-confusing Performance Max campaigns.
Where on earth do you start?
I always recommend that the best place to start is Google Display ads. It’s easy to get up and running, you don’t have to worry about keyword research or writing ad copy, and they appeal to people wherever they are in your sales funnel.
Still not entirely sure that Google Display ads are right for you? Here are five more reasons why they’re an easy option for driving sales.
1. They’re cheap and cheerful
When you work in certain industries, Google Search ads can quickly become one of your most expensive marketing tools.
Work in the legal sector or insurance? Expect to pay ï¿¡40 for the most in-demand keywords!
Google Display ads work out much cheaper, with most clicks costing between 82p and ï¿¡1.64.
Why the price difference? Display ads are less competitive and have a lower conversion rate, meaning a lot less demand. But when done right, they can become a very effective part of your marketing strategy.
2. You can reach a wide range of people
Google Display ads run on the Google Display Network. This is a range of websites that agree to host adverts in return for income. When someone clicks on an ad, Google gives them a share of the revenue. Win-win!
This means that Google Display ads run across over three million websites and mobile apps – reaching about 90% of all internet users worldwide. As a result, your ads can show to hundreds and thousands of prospective customers, no matter what website they’re on.
Don’t want your ads to appear on certain sites? No problem. You can tell Google to put a blanket ban on websites and apps that promote themes like drugs or alcohol or even say no to individual websites.
As an aside, you can see which websites and apps your ads appear on in Google Ads. Some are, let’s say… interesting, to say the least!
3. They’re great for retargeting
One of the best things about Google Display ads is that you can use them for retargeting.

Let’s say someone visits your website but doesn’t buy your product or service. By setting up a remarketing list, you can serve ads to them wherever they are on the internet, enticing them to come back and finish the sale.
Alternatively, you can feed your mailing list into your campaign, meaning if someone is signed into Google with an email address in your list, they’ll see your ad.
Retargeting display ads have much better clickthrough rates than their regular counterparts – 0.7% compared to 0.07%. This means that for every 142 customers shown a retargeting ad, one will return to your site.
4. You can use them to showcase your brand
Display ads are entirely visual, making them a brilliant way to raise brand awareness and make people aware of you.
Even if prospective customers don’t click on your ads, they gradually become increasingly aware of your presence. And with the average customer engaging with a brand eight times before wanting to know more, display ads can be a cost-effective way of advertising your business.
Not sure how to create a Display ad that works? Google Ads has you covered. By uploading a selection of images and videos, Google will create a suite of responsive adverts and determine which combination of assets will lead to the highest chance of a click.
5. They’re highly customisable
The final benefit of Google Display ads is that you can customise them to suit your needs. This means more chance of appearing in front of the right people and less chance of appearing in front of the wrong ones.
You can target your ads based on age, gender, parental status, location, and general interests. Google can also apply audience expansion to target people similar to your existing audience.
(Given how much data Google has about all of us, its targeting options are pretty powerful!)
In summary: say hello to Google Display ads
Okay, Google Display ads aren’t for everyone. If you want to target prospective customers at the end of the sales funnel who are ready to buy, you’re probably best investing in Google Search ads.
If you want a cost-effective and efficient way to raise brand awareness or target site visitors though, Display ads may be the perfect choice for your business.
And with only 55% of companies using them, a well-thought-out Display ads strategy could give you the edge over your competitors.
