?? Why Should You Go Live in 2024? And Which Platform to Choose?
Whether you're a content creator or aspiring live streamer, the first question to ask yourself is: what type of content (theme) and audience are you targeting? And the best way to clarify these points is to target the right platform.
Why is it so important to start doing live videos in 2024?
Yeah, I know, some people have a natural talent for it.
For others, it's not their thing.
And trust me, I know what I'm talking about...
The first few times I went live, I was uncomfortable, didn't know what to say, and found it kinda weird...
And honestly, I still do it pretty rarely for now.
But don't let that stop you.
You've gotta understand that while it's not an easy exercise for everyone, like anything else, you get better with time.
And most importantly, it doesn't necessarily mean you have to go live every day; it can be occasional.
Not all of us want to become Twitch streamers.
As usual, my ultimate goal with this newsletter is to help you save time and progress as a content creator.
Whether you're a beginner, an experienced creator, or a marketing pro, my aim is to assist you in evolving and enhancing your visibility.
So why should you do live streams in 2024?
Well, because it's one of the last 'cheats' still available to increase your visibility.
As usual, it's crucial to understand the goals of platforms and algorithms.
To put it simply: their goal is to keep users engaged for as long as possible.
And what better way than live videos?
"People are likely to watch a live video for about three times longer than a prerecorded video."
Source: GBS Media
So what does that mean?
Well, it means that platforms are much more likely to prioritize your live videos compared to regular content.
And yes, because your audience will stick around longer, it's a win-win for the platform.
Now that you've grasped that, I think your motivation just leveled up.
Now, it's time to choose the right platform for this.
It'll depend on your goals: are you looking to become a full-time live streamer, or do you prefer occasional live sessions?

GAMING
TWITCH - "The Leader"
Characteristics: Twitch is mostly focused on gaming, offering a large community of gamers and streamers with interactive features like chat, emotes, and subscriptions. But you can also find plenty of other types of content, with some countries being more creative than others.
Tips: Ideal for gamers or those looking to engage with the gaming community. Consider using Twitch's affiliate and partnership programs for monetization.
Advantages: Large engaged community, numerous monetization options, strong support for streamers.

FACEBOOK GAMING - "Still Alive (for now)"

Disadvantages: Limited monetization options, broadcasts are public with no option for a selected audience, limited to mobile.
TIKTOK - "Far Ahead"

Disadvantages: Limited to shorter content, live feature restricted to accounts with a certain number of followers.

Tips: Ideal for creators seeking a diverse and interactive platform to engage with an international audience.

PROFESSIONAL
LINKEDIN - "B2B Only"
Characteristic: Focused on professional content and networking. Offers features like live Q&A sessions, ideal for webinars, corporate announcements, and professional branding.
Tips: Best suited for professionals looking to share industry expertise, host corporate events, or develop their professional or personal brand.
Advantages: Access to a professional (B2B) and business-focused audience, high-quality lead generation.
Disadvantages: Not all users have access to live streaming, the platform requires pre-approval for live streaming (but this is expected to change soon), limited casual or entertainment content.
So, we've taken a grand tour of the different possibilities available for your live streams.
And there's plenty to choose from.
The key is not to limit yourself only to what you know.
Sure, the choice of platform will depend on your existing presence. You're not suddenly going to start streaming on Twitch if your audience is on LinkedIn (although, hmm ??).
But it's super important not to confine your audience to just one platform because you never know what might happen with the regular updates and algorithms of the various platforms.
Depending on your goals, choose at least 2 platforms that are most suitable and go live!
See you next week, in the meantime take care of yourself!
