I was chatting about Agile with a couple of colleagues when one of them suddenly asked me and waited anxiously for my best advice:
If you meet the CEO of a large company in the elevator and he/she ask you, “Why should I use agile for business transformation?” What you'd answer in 30seconds?
I was caught by surprise and needed a short break to think through. After repeating the question, I promptly answered: “what do you think about starting with small changes, test some ideas, and decide what to do or improve, wasting less money? Everyone fails, and it’s better to fail as faster and cheaper as possible. You'd have the chance to adjust the direction reducing the risk to affect the company result and increasing the better opportunities.”
Could I give him a better answer? Absolutely. Agile is beyond frameworks or methodologies; it’s a mindset focused on value and results that we can apply not just for IT purposes. I believe in this concept. We don’t have all data or information to make decisions as fast as the business needs. Fail fast and waste less money.

3 年I say it's not only a better option, it's a must have approach going forward. The market ecosystem is getting more and more complex, and leverage is shifted to the customer. Traditional business "transformation" simply can't keep up with it.

3 年What I like best about agile is that it has an understood vocabulary, cadence, and role descriptions. That allows businesses to jump in (they don't have to spend time and money reinventing the wheel) and then can tweak as they learn.
