Why Should you Publish a Book?

The assets of self-publishing and connecting to your target audience. Build a backend business you love.

Before asking yourself if there’s a book in you, there are several aspects you might like to consider. Book publishing has changed tremendously during the last decades. Ten years ago self-publishing was just becoming popular in the entrepreneur world; now, there’s plenty of evidence that a book is a great way to connect with your target audience and gain credibility in your field. Today more than ever, self-published books have become an effective way to grow your business and open the door for better opportunities along the road.

If you are a business owner you have to consider what are your primary purposes. Basically, you want to generate great interest in your book to develop sales funnels for other products or services. This is what quality content does. It attracts your target audience using online and social means. It generates leads.

Self-publishing a nonfiction book is a powerful marketing tool that allows you to promote your services in a more personal way providing real value to your clients and sharing your unique skills and experiences with them. For example, being a self-published author broadens your chances to be considered for public speaking opportunities.

A book is an excellent way to build a strong, trustful relationship with your audience. What better way to get your target group to know you and understand how you think? If your experiences, skills, and ideas are truly valuable then people will share them with others; hence, more people will eventually find you.

Think about it, there's no better introduction to your products and services than one that includes your knowledge and proven systems. Why have a business card when you can have a book! Your potential customers and your audience will be delighted to learn more about what you know; but most of all, they will consider you an authority that can be trusted. Readers will trust that you can help them solve problems efficiently because they consider you an expert in the field.

For many of us, the idea of writing a book is as scary as it is fascinating. Sure, you’d be full of pride the day you finally hold a copy of your completed book, but are you ready to spend countless hours in a dark, windowless room as you battle writer’s block? All dramatization aside, the reality is you don’t need to actually write it (more on that here: https://www.malenebendtsen.com/anyone-can-publish-a-book-how-about-you-publish-yours-this-year/).

Instead, focus on whether you should publish a book. Publishing a book in which you teach your best stuff is not an emotional ego thing, it is a sound business decision. You are building an asset that will serve you well into the future and you will leave a great legacy behind.
