Should Personal Trainers and Fitness Professionals Become Beachbody Coaches?
This is a question and a topic that has come up more than a few times so I decided to write my opinion on personal trainers and fitness professionals becoming Beachbody Coaches.
This isn't something that I can answer with a simple “yes or no”. The answer ill vary depending on each specific person and what they want. I will explain some of the benefits of personal trainers and fitness professionals becoming Beachbody Coaches, along with some of the business cons of being a personal trainer.
5 Reasons Why Fitness Professionals Should Become Beachbody Coaches
1) Expand your business nationally (and even internationally).
A downside to being a Personal Trainer or Group Exercise Instructor is that you are limited by location. You are only able to work with clients in your local area. By becoming a Beachbody Coach you can work with people virtually all across the country and throughout the United States, Canada, The United Kingdom and France.
This opens up huge opportunities and fixes the problem and you can create more impact with your skills and knowledge.
2) Stop relying on “hours worked” to determine your income.
Typically personal trainers are paid by the hour. Work an hour, get paid for that hour. Pretty simple concept and it’s how most people in every job are paid.
Beachbody Coaching is different. It doesn’t matter if you work 2 hours, or 200 hours. You will be paid on what you and your team produces.
I personally earn money while I’m asleep. If I check my Team Volume before I go to bed at night, and then check it again when I wake up in the morning, it’s always higher. While I slept my Team Volume grew, which means my Team Cycle bonuses also grew.
?It does take some time and effort to get to this point. At the time I’m writing this post, I’ve been a Coach for over 10 years.
*Team Beachbody? does not guarantee any level of success or income from the Team Beachbody Coach Opportunity. Each Coach's income depends on his or her own efforts, diligence, and skill. See our Statement of Independent Coach Earnings for the most recent information on the actual incomes of all our Coaches.
3) Do you have a plan in place for when clients cancel your services?
Let’s face it, it doesn’t matter how great you are, there will be times when clients cancel. Maybe their budget becomes tight, they move away,?or whatever the reason, clients are going to cancel.
As a Beachbody Coach you could recommend Shakeology and Beachbody workout programs as cheaper alternatives for them and a way to continue on their health and fitness journey working out in the comfort of their own home.
4) Save your clients money. Save your time. And accelerate results.
Working one-on-one with a personal trainer is not cheap. (According to?payscale.com?the wages for personal trainers range from $9.86 on the low end to $47.69 on the higher end.)
So let’s use a rate of $20/hour, working out 5 times a week. That adds up to $100 a week, or over $400 a month!
If someone wants to see results quickly, they should be working out 5 or 6 days a week, so you don’t want to cut out on the amount of days per week they are exercising. One solution could be to create a hybrid program for them to follow.

Instead of spending 6 days a week with a personal trainer, they could spend 2 days with a personal trainer, and 4 days working out with a Beachbody program at home.
This would save your client money, while still producing results for them, and freeing up more of your time to work with more clients. It’s a win/win for everyone.
5) Create an additional stream of income from recommending Shakeology and other Beachbody nutritional supplements to your existing clients.
As a Beachbody Coach you would earn a 25% commission on all of the sales you make. So each Shakeology sale would earn you $32.48, recurring every month as long as the customer was drinking Shakeology. (I have customers that have been ordering every month for over 4 years.)
A quick example of how this can add up.
Let’s say you have just 10 customers drinking Shakeology, loving it, and re-ordering every month.
And that’s only from having 10 Shakeology customers.
As you can see from the 5 points I made above, deciding to become a Beachbody Coach can be a great way for any personal trainer to expand their business on several different levels.
A main deciding factor should be whether or not you are a fan of Beachbody’s products and believe in them to provide great results. A simple way to gain a “belief” in the products is to use them yourself. So if you haven’t done a workout program all of the way through, sticking to the schedule and the meal plan, that would be my first recommendation (challenge) to you.
If you’re not a fan of the products, becoming a Beachbody Coach is not going to be a good fit for you. One of our key values is "Being a product of the product".?
Don’t Look At Beachbody As Your Competition
Be open minded. Often times I talk to a personal trainer that has negative preconceived notions about Beachbody workouts, and think that their way is the best and only way. They see Beachbody as competition. Maybe they are thinking to themselves, “if they can work out at home and get results, then they won’t need me and I’m out of a job”…don’t think like this.
Be open to new ideas. The fact is, getting in shape is simple (but not easy), exercise and eat right. For most people the specific movements they are doing are not what is important, it’s doing something, ANYTHING, that matters most.
I’m open to all kinds of exercising, Beachbody is not the ONLY way. I have a lot of friends that are fans of Crossfit, Zumba, and Cycle Class and I know they are all wonderful. As long as we continue to move our bodies and enjoy exercise we can all work together to make even more of an impact.
