This applies not only to individuals, but businesses too. Less is more and thus, it is best to be strategic about things or risk wasting precious resources.
Idleness is often seen as wasteful and self-indulgent. The world’s undisputed champion of indolence – The Sloth, is often the perfect mascot for the antithesis of the hyperactive 24/7 work addiction culture.
Contrary to conventional wisdom, science has shown that sloths are not lazy – their slowness is a survival skill. The fact that they have been on this planet for 64 million years shows that they do have a winning strategy.
Like pacing your car when it is low on fuel. Sloths move slowly to conserve energy. They burn very little energy and hence, do not need to acquire much energy or to spend time looking for it. Minimal energy expenditure is finely balanced with minimal energy intake.
Likewise in the business context during this pandemic, having a sharp focus and clear strategy to navigate the uncertainties help to maximize the business potential despite the limited resources. Firing bullets in all directions and hoping something sticks is not going to help. Less is indeed more.
