Why Europe should boost digitalisation and scrap the subsidy race

It's finally Friday! That means it's time for our Weekly DEbrief. Let's have a look at what we've done this week.

• European Green Deal Industrial Plan: A subsidy race is not the answer to the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) because:

? Fighting ?? with ?? won't make Europe more competitive

? It will favour some EU countries (the largest, richest) over others (the smallest, poorest)

Instead, the current draft should focus on 1?? consolidating the Single Market; 2?? better using the tools at our disposal, i.e., the RRF funds (only 10% spent); 3?? revisit existing (digital) regulation; 4?? a renewed multilateral cooperation. All in all, it should boost digitalisation and make it easier for companies to do business! Read more:
