Being present on social media platforms is very important for all types of businesses nowadays. I wouldn't say it’s necessary to have branded accounts on all of the networks. I would say that it is important to choose key channels that you can focus on properly and engage yourself in them fully. In this case, the rule ‘quality over quantity’ applies.
How to decide which social media networks you should be present on?
Choose platforms that are in line with your business and your target group.
- Check and observe which social media channels does your target group use, and focus on these ones. Since the purpose of being present on social media is to reach your clients and build relationships with them, you need to choose platforms that they prefer, are made for their needs, and give you the possibility to meet each other.
- Have in mind that your online presence should perform your brand’s values and should be compliant with your goal. As soon as you want to build a closer, more personal connection with your clients, you can use more spontaneous and less official social media channels - Instagram, TikTok, Youtube. If you want to be seen as a professional on social media, maybe choose these platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter.
What I would also like to add, is that your social media presence really depends as well on your business possibilities. If you run a very popular enterprise, that has a good amount of resources and employees that can focus on managing social media, you can definitely go ahead and stay present on every popular network, if only you can meet your target audience on each of them. As soon as you can keep the content valuable and creative, the more places you will be engaged in online, the better. Remember though, that you shouldn't try to force things - maybe start with fewer networks and then develop your online presence.
