Why settle in Dubai?
When you think of Dubai what do you imagine? Ocean, camel, belly dancers, kings, dates ,desserts, sun, cars, money & Burj Khalifa. No doubt these all are the charm of Dubai. But there is so much more in this country. I never knew my experience will be so beautiful when I decided to relocate to Dubai. It's been few years and I don't even realize how time is passing by. Away from my home country, family and friends I never thought a country will keep me so safe, happy, joyful and satisfied.
Few of my experiences which will compel you to definitely try this country as your next home:-
1) No Tax: I get my full salary as on papers. No tax, no deductions. Isn't it awesome. Otherwise I remember my upset face when I used to see my salary slip with all kind of deductions on it in my home country. Being a tax free country Dubai is a great attraction for job seekers and businessmen. You don't have to spend so many hours thinking how to save your tax? haha.....just kidding.
2) Security & safety of residents is the first priority in this country. Just a small example: I am a very forgetful person and so many times I have left my phone in the cinema hall, in the taxi, in the airport, in some shop and in a restaurant. Every Time I got an initiative call from the other side informing me about my loss before even I realize I have left it somewhere. This makes me so comfortable carrying anything with me anywhere and even forgetting at times. Wow! it's awesome to lose things when you know it will come back. Couldn't have imagined this in my home country. Sorry, no offence but it's true. Crime rate is very low. Even when we use public transport even mid night, being a woman I have never faced any situation which will even scare me for a second. Without any fear we can travel any part of the city at any time of day or night by any conveyance, metro or bus or taxi. CCTV camera, police van and cid police has been successful in creating a fear among the bad mind people and has forced them to either choose a different country or change themselves. I do feel the difference in one's energy in staying a country where every morning you are leaving home you know you are in danger, and someone or the other may harass you or misbehave with you and you will have to keep quite about it or you may be in a bigger trouble and staying in a country where every morning or night when you leave you house you know no one will mess with you or misbehave with you, if anyone does will be in big trouble and someone is keeping a close eye and will handle it and take care of it. So I don't need to bother rather I think about what I am going to talk in my next meeting. Safety empowers you.
3)Easy loans & low interest rate: When you are planning a stay in a foreign country, there are lot of times when you can have emergencies or some sudden craving of renting a new flat or buying a new car or some latest gadget. And when your pocket is not allowing. Here you get lot of options from the banks where you can purchase your desired stuffs without any downpayment, low interest, easy installments and some times if a good offer you buy now and start paying after 4 months. Unbelievable! I bought my first car in Dubai @ 0 downpayment, just 2% interest , very less formalities & paperwork, and with an option of deferred payment in the same cost. Same thing happened when me and my sister planned to shift to a new flat, which was beautiful and awesome location. But as we were renting it for the whole year, we got four cheque option. So 3 months rent plus some deposit and real estate brokerage fee had to be paid at once. We got easy personal loan & we could rent our dream home and may monthly to our banks.
4) Driving School: I have always been fearful to drive. Even in my country I was driving two wheelers. I attempted to learn four wheeler but resulted in hitting some pole or the wall. And then I decided not to attempt ever. Once I was in Dubai, some friends and my company motivated me to get a license. After one year of my stay here, I felt I need it as I am in a sales & marketing and I had to travel a lot. And the extreme temperature here in the summers will not allow you to travel even a meter. I enrolled in a renowned driving school here. It took two months to finish with my theory ,classes and tests. And finally after passing the assessments I got my driving license. The driving schools here work very professionally, I used to get only one hour break in the afternoon from my office. They used to give pick & drop facilities from & to my office. My total fee was also converted to interest free installments for 12 months. You also get to choose if you need a male or female trainer. It made me so burden free. The trainers were good and my training was very strict but interesting.
5)Strict traffic rules: Strict traffic rules and penalties on breaking traffic rules keeps the drivers in their limit. It becomes easy for new drivers to drive as everyone is strictly following the rules. That's why the number of accidents are much less compared to the number of cars moving on the 6 lanes with so many exits. Even the parking areas are used very nicely. Fines on breaking red light, obstructing traffic, not paying parking fee, toll gating all this has heavy fines, keeping drivers disciplined and making the traffic life quite hassle free and safe. I couldn't believe I will start driving on a 6 lane road so soon. Dubai police is very active and always monitor roads, different areas, parking places etc. There are cctv camera and radars in almost all the places keeping the drivers cautious all the time. There is 0% tolerance to drink and drive ensuring safety of drivers and pedestrians.
In case of accidents it is strictly mandatory for both parties to wait by parking their car side of the road. Police comes on spot and solve the issue. Insurance services are very good and economic. In case of major accidents first priority is given to the save the victims. Emergency ambulances and helicopter ambulance is also available to save the time to reach the hospital in heavy traffic. Most of the buildings have a helipad for emergency helicopters. Police also shows all their activeness and cooperation in handling these cases.
6) Cosmopolitan culture: I don't know if I would have know so closely people from so many countries. Dubai is so welcoming to people from different countries. All living and working under the same roof. I have friends from Africa, UK, Greece,Pakistan, Philippines, Mauritius, Australia, Syria, Oman, Saudi, Lebanon, Tunisia, Jordan, Turkey, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka,, Afghanistan and many more. All of them stay with peace and brotherhood. The government also never entertains any kind of violation or communal fights or thoughts. Nobody talks about the differences here but they cherish the similarities. Thanks to the spirit of Dubai.
7) Shopping hopping: Dubai is a hub of traders from across the world. The tax free country and easy logistics connectivity with the world makes it an attractive destination for them. Products of all categories and from all countries are coming in this country. Dubai is a shopping destination for lot of brand lovers. From chocolates to cosmetics, from garments to medicine, from spices to honey, from furnitures to food stuffs, everything you find here is of high quality as every product has to be registered here in the municipality, specially food stuffs. Beautiful decorated malls with lot of side attractions other than shops pulls the visitors, hence increasing sales of the retailers. Like the fountain show, ice rink, fish aquarium etc inside the Dubai mall are world famous tourist attractions. Twice a year you have the shopping festival here. Huge discounts and sales make you mad. Global village is also big tourist attraction where almost all countries participate to display their products and exclusive things are available in best prices. Things you have bought visiting 50 countries can be bought by just visiting one country. Gitex, food festival, season clearance and other exhibitions are also famous spots for buyers
8) Tourist spots: Isn't it beautiful to stay in a country where the whole world is coming to see it's beauty and you have an opportunity to stay there day and night, months and years and everyday soothe your eyes with the beauty. UAE has 7 emirates, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Ummalquwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman and Sharjah. Every emirate has it's own beauty. There are mountains, ocean, beaches, monuments, mosques, water parks, adventure sports, world's wonders, top class hotels & resorts, cosmetic treatment centres etc. Whenever you get time in weekend or weekdays you can take a break and choose to explore any of it and spend quality time. I love visiting Jabel Jazz, Jabel Hafiz, Khorfakkan & Jumeirah. Lot of other countries are easily accessible from here. It is easy to go for a short trip to these nearby tourist destinations. Awesome offers are available by the tourism companies over here for Muscat & Hatta in Oman, Georgia, Tanzania, India, Bahrain, Turkey, Istanbul, Tanzania, Armenia, Maldives, Mauritius, Egypt, Greece and many others. Dubai is among world's best airports, so travelling is your cup of tea now.
9)No currency restriction: Dubai can also be said the expat city. As people from so many countries are staying here. There are number of exchange available offering their best rates. You can get or send money from any country. It is easy for expats to send money to their countries and to get money from their countries. This is a big relief and one of the biggest motivations for the expats to choose this country to stay.
10)Earning bread and butter: Whether getting a job or starting a business, both are hassle free over here. I never thought things will move so fast and within three years of my stay in this country I could jump from a 9 to 6 job to my own business. Achieving this in a foreign country without any huge investments or financial support is quite difficult. Dubai is a very fertile land for new entrepreneurs. This is a great market to launch new ideas and to experiment with the business man or woman inside you. There are so many business which is almost risk free and very much remunerating. Some of the hot favourite business to start in Dubai are:-
1) Restaurants & Cafeterias: With so many expats staying here I have seen most of them having food outside to save time and energy for their jobs and other activities. Secondly as it a hot country so in most of the occasions people prefer enjoying indoor and indoor activities cannot be perfect without food. Coffee shops and sheesha parlours are icing in the cake.
2) Fitness & Yoga centres: People mostly prefer to stay inside their houses or offices. Outdoor activities are limited due to weather conditions. With full day sitting jobs and consumption of too much junk foods and outside food, it is a need for the fitness lovers.Lot of yoga centres, gym, dance schools, zumba, pilates and other fitness activities centre are booming in this country. Lifestyle management consultants to dieticians are also a need in this country.
3) Cleaning & Facility Management:With high rise buildings, offices, villas and so many residential communities, there is great need for building maintenance services including cleaning, pest management, electrical and plumbing maintenance. With hourly charges to monthly charges are paid for these workers. There is no lack of work if you can cater for this business.
4) Construction & Interior designing: This city is constantly moving and rising. There are still so many areas to develop and the country is doing it's best to build not just buildings but world class & amusing properties. Like recently the "sea horses" ocean merged villas are in news. Palm Jumeirah is already and example and similarly this country has so many wonders to build. The demand of construction companies, interior design companies, labour contracting companies is not gonna come down in coming years. This is also blessing for construction material supply companies, real estate brokerage firms and many other related to this.
5)Event Management: Dubai is a city of joy. People think entertainment when they think of Dubai. It has always been a hotspot for international events. Whether it's Gitex or Gulf Food, handicraft show or international dance & music show, international sports events for F1 car race, property show or education fair, automobile exhibition or film promotions it hosts all of it. Even Dubai is expected to host the Expo 2020. With all this happening round the year keeps the event management industry tuned.
Similarly there are so many other business which is doing so well in Dubai. Definitely a business is a risk game but when done with best strategies and futuristic vision, it can do wonders to your life. You feel a change in your personal & financial life.
