Why sending a non-ATS CV is a turn-off to recruiters?

Not having an ATS-optimized CV can be a turn-off to recruiters for several reasons:
1. Difficulty in Parsing Information:
Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are designed to parse and organize the information in your CV. If your CV is not optimized for ATS, it may not be correctly parsed, causing important details about your skills and experience to be missed. This makes it difficult for recruiters to quickly assess your suitability for the role.
2. Reduced Visibility:
Many companies use ATS to filter and rank applicants based on keywords and other criteria. A non-ATS-friendly CV may not contain the right keywords or may be improperly formatted, leading to a lower ranking or even elimination from the candidate pool. This reduces your visibility to recruiters, even if you are a qualified candidate.
3. Impression of Lack of Preparation:
Submitting a CV that is not ATS-friendly can give the impression that you are not well-prepared or knowledgeable about the current job application processes. Recruiters may perceive this as a lack of attention to detail or an unwillingness to adapt to modern job search techniques, which are critical qualities for many roles.
4. Increased Manual Work for Recruiters:

If your CV is not easily readable by an ATS, recruiters may have to spend additional time and effort manually entering your information into their systems. Given the volume of applications they handle, recruiters prefer candidates who submit ATS-compatible CVs to streamline their workflow. A non-compliant CV can be seen as adding unnecessary work.
5. Higher Risk of Rejection:
An ATS-unfriendly CV is more likely to be rejected automatically by the system before it even reaches a human recruiter. This significantly lowers your chances of making it to the interview stage, regardless of how well-suited you may be for the position.
To improve your chances of success, it is important to create an ATS-optimized CV.
This includes using simple and clear formatting, avoiding complex graphics and tables, using standard section headings (like "Work Experience" and "Education"), and incorporating relevant keywords from the job description. This ensures that your CV can be effectively parsed by ATS and easily reviewed by recruiters.
