Why Saving is Financially Irresponsible:

Sometimes I consider myself to be responsible with my money. I keep a budget sheet, try to stick to it, and am aware of cash inflows vs outflows. While I may not be blowing money on silly miscellaneous things like many students do, my lack of investment is in and of itself financially irresponsible. So, am I really being “responsible” with my money if I am simply keeping it in my bank account? The answer: no. Now, I don’t mean to claim that saving is irresponsible. Saving is great! In fact, in order to invest, you need to save. My point is that saving alone is irresponsible because there are more, better places to put your money. Places that don’t just sit, sedentary collecting dust until you make a transaction but actually make you money while you sit sedentary.?

So, what’s so good about investing anyways? Multiple things but I managed to make a list of three major benefits. The first is the personal development that comes from it. Investing takes discipline, effort, and intentionality. You can’t be lazy or reckless with your money if you are putting portions of it in stocks and bonds. This discipline promotes self-control in other aspects of your life. The second benefit is the improvement in quality of life. Investing is like playing the long game. You make sacrifices now to have a comfortable future. By investing, you set yourself up for success in 10, 20, even 30+ years. The third benefit is similar to the latter. Investment allows you to have a possible form of income without actually working. In other words, you could be relaxing on a beach, retired, making money.?

After reading these benefits it’s clear that investing is indeed the more financially responsible track to take in your monetary endeavors. The earlier you start, the better you get, and the more you make.?
