Why ‘Same Day’ is Fresher than ‘Instant Delivery’

It is simple. Freshness is non-negotiable to us. Why? Well because it is the only parameter that benchmarks #quality , and the wisdom of #eatingright makes a lasting impact in our lives. In this era of convenience and promises, where every delivery is measured by the length of time, it is worth taking a step back and reflect. Does fast imply freshness? Let’s find out.

Our customers are our greatest pride, and they trust us because of the quality we offer. While we’re in the constant pursuit to excel, we don’t want to go down the path of quick promises that take us away from our core value of offering nothing but nature’s finest. Our current delivery timelines take orders the previous day and deliver farm-fresh fruits & veggies early the next day. We really have put our best foot forward and through experience have realised that it takes about 12-16 hrs for the freshness to be relayed from the farm to your doorstep, given the scale we function at.

We #DeepRooted .Co, are privileged to deal with nature’s produce. It is absolutely crucial to understand that #fruitsandvegetables are perishable in nature, something that’s a guiding factor in all our decisions.

Is faster really better for you – here’s what we will need to do

  • ?Optimize for Speed: Prior storage of fruits and vegetables at delivery centres for immediate dispatch.
  • ?Open multiple delivery centres in each city for faster reach.

What does this mean?

  • ??Quicker #deliveries , but longer harvest-to-home times, to accommodate storage & sorting time at delivery centres
  • ?Reduced freshness due to additional sorting and handling

Now, imagine you’re placing an order and we rush through our delivery agents in just 10, 15 or 20 mins. You conclude that what’s been delivered to you is fresh, or may not even spare a thought on this, but in either case, the implications are long-lasting.?

Why is 10-minute delivery not for us?

●??????This model works best for products with a longer shelf life. (For e.g.: biscuits, soft drinks etc.)

●??????If you go to the store early morning, the crispness of the freshly blossomed leafy veggies wilts away by noon. Just imagine it after 24 hrs- and this holds true for most veggies

What are we doing to ensure that both #speed & #freshness are matched without any compromise on quality?

●??????We realized that the way to solve the problem is by not rushing nature, but by rushing back to it more often. We’re harvesting twice a day. We won’t be able to deliver instantly, but it will be the freshest by far. So our timelines are not less than one hour, but a more realistic 5-8 hrs after the order is placed. We harvest in the morning for perishables and deliver them to you by evening. This is the freshest supply chain available to anyone (outside of those who have a kitchen garden. This is precisely why we have initiated ‘#samedaydelivery ’- Order by 11 am to get before 8 pm.

●??????Also having multiple processing centres would lead to more handling and degradation. We have reduced that through a central warehouse, where the last mile magic happens.

●??????It is actually a no-brainer that we need to relook at the delivery of fruits and veggies as harvest-to-delivery time, as opposed to order-to-delivery time. Because what you eat today, builds your future.
