Why

Why

I often get asked why I started the charity ... and, yes, there are lots of reasons ... over the next few months, I am going to share stories of some of our amazing people ... people that have been brave enough to ask for support and overcome huge barriers ... people that I am very, very proud of ...

The picture is of Sean, a northern lad who I had the pleasure of meeting on a course I was running in Southampton. This lone parent with twin boys wanted to work but was struggling to find something to fit around school hours. Through some advocacy work with Wheatsheaf and FairShare, we were able to get him a paid warehouse position and, as he held a fork-lift licence, they were delighted to take him on.

I received this photo on Friday afternoon, just as I sat down to work through the ever growing to do list - it made my day as this guy is smiling, he is confident, he is learning admin and other skills and is a positive role model for his boys .... a complete change from the person I met 3 months ago!

Why did I start the charity .... I think that photo says it all ... well done Sean!
