SACPCMP Professional Construction Manager Criteria:
Construction Management is the management of the physical construction process within the built environment and includes the co-ordination, administration, and management of resources. The Construction Manager is the one point of responsibility in this process.
An applicant who wishes to apply for registration as a Professional Construction Manager (Pr. CM) shall possess one of the following:
1. An accredited Honors degree in the Built Environment field of study with a minimum of four (4) years’ relevant post-graduate practical experience
2. An accredited B-Tech qualification in the Built Environment field of study with a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant post-graduate practical experience.
3. An accredited National Higher Diploma in the Built Environment field of study with a minimum of six (6) years’ relevant post-graduate practical experience.
4. An accredited National Diploma in the Built Environment field of study with a minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant post-graduate practical experience.
Note: In case where a person does not possess a qualification and has more than ten (10) years’ relevant practical experience, the Recognition of Prior Learning route (RPL) is recommended. My resume has 35 years experience then why should I register? I am a RISK management driven Construction manager with a very good Health & Safety record with live, existing and reachable referees. There is no official training needed for this registration via the counsel? My track record and referees spaek for itself.
Benefits?? Registration benefits the industry by raising the profile of the professions and by also eradicating tainted perceptions. Registered persons are seen as truly professional and attract better and more interest from students. Act No. 48 if 2000 was passed to protect the public.
