Why Resilient Culture Matters More Than Ever

Why Resilient Culture Matters More Than Ever

Are we having conversations that we should have?

A question kept coming into my mind as the magnitude of issues became evident during conversations with the leadership team. The reactive approach to things as they unfold is not a good place to be, especially if we are still determining the root causes.

The bigger question is how many organizations address the root cause vs. its effect. It may not be surprising if I say plenty. But to see the need for more communication with all internal stakeholders,?especially talent, is the most significant opportunity for every organization.

Let's face it, we all want to thrive individually, in teams and overall within organizations. But to do that, it is essential to create a strong culture and healthy working environment. We need more than ever to build a culture of resistance.

The working environment has always had its challenges: deadlines, pivots, changes, disruptions, and growth.?Unfortunately, the pandemic has added a tremendous and immeasurable amount of stress to everyone across every industry globally.??

Building and encouraging a culture of resilience in the workplace is a fundamental responsibility and opportunity. Today, leaders can give employees robust strategies to be ready to handle whatever comes next by providing psychological safety and needed support.

By offering employees an array of benefits that assist with physical, mental, and emotional well-being, they can help their workforce to thrive.

To cultivate resilience and inner strength in the workplace, leaders need to establish the following:?

Community and Connection: As culture shifted during social distancing and remote work, many learnings came to light about cultivating connection and community outside of the office and team interactions took on a new meaning and added importance.?

By considering how talent can have a chance to collaborate and bond digitally, it is crucial to know and understand team needs and preferences.?

Create Space for Change: Today talent and teams are juggling more than ever before. It is essential to give them changes and flexibility ranging from working hours, PTO, allowances, incentives, revised performance reviews, and new success criteria.?

Provide Comprehensive Mental Well-Being Resources: Offering high-quality, accessible options for talent in mental fitness and inner strength is essential. Simple tools that provide a comprehensive mental well-being experience can significantly impact the organization.?

Create Channels for Communication and Feedback: The most significant opportunity for leaders is to listen to their team's feedback and needs.?A full communication loop is essential and necessary to achieve a common goal or objective, especially while building a culture of resistance.

By offering a robust set of resources and learning from experiences and feedback, consider implementing regular surveys, check-ins or polls to understand the impact and level of success.?

Creating a culture of resilience takes time as talent is cultivating their capability and capacity to cope with difficulties in the office and beyond, but the results are more than worth it. It protects organizations' biggest asset: their people.

As a result, thriving resilient organizations operate with a game-changing trifecta:

  • Autonomy
  • Engagement
  • Productivity

Thanks for drawing our attention to this interesting subject so inspiring and deserving the utmost consideration. Organizational resilience is very important for an organization that intends to thrive in today's dynamic and interconnected world. To survive the turbulence and criticalities of the market, companies must know how to be strong and, at the same time, flexible. In fact, resilience should not be confused with rigor in the application of formulas and strategies; instead, it consists in developing the resources (as you clearly explained in the article) that allow you to evaluate a situation and understand what the right action to take is. It is necessary to foster coordination between the different parts of the company, through a fluid exchange of information, the sharing of a certain portion of decision-making power, nurturing the culture of interdependence, as well as the development of transversal skills (soft and hard) at different levels organizational structures that promote the exchange of ideas and views.
