Why recruitment is like dating and exclusivity matters ...

Mrs Mallender would agree with this statement (I hope!), but in 2024 it has never been more important to get your recruitment strategy right.??

In January, People Management reflected on the subdued recruitment market of 2023, where a rising number of candidates in the market were met with cautious employers reluctant to commit to a permanent placing. Yet competition for suitably skilled workers was pushing up pay and? KPMG and REC UKs 2024 report suggests a more optimistic outlook is likely to return in 2024 - a perspective matched by respondents to our own SME Legal Survey: 65% of SMEs in our study feel more confident about the prospects for their business than they were 12 months ago.?

So, if hiring is back on the agenda, and there are plenty of candidates in the marketplace, why go exclusive instead of playing the (recruitment agency) field??

Here’s my top five reasons why:?

1?? Avoid the clumsy first move.?

Having a detailed knowledge of both client and candidate means a bad ‘first date’ really can be avoided. A recruiter needs to spend time with a candidate to understand what makes them tick; have multiple conversations to get to know the person behind the CV and build a genuine relationship. It’s one of the reasons we speak to every single candidate on our books before we ever consider placing them.?

2?? No need to swipe right.?

Adopting a more tailored approach means less CV sifting, no more being inundated with the wrong candidates and less stress trying to manage multiple agencies. A good screening process means only the best fit candidates are presented for review, saving you time and money.?

?

3?? Make everyone feel special.?

A tailored recruitment process works for both client and candidate. A candidate feels valued, and a client feels listened to, and knows their ‘needs’ have been understood and fed back into the recruitment process.??

A personalised process from start to finish, helps ensure the culture and expectations of the business align with a candidate’s values and beliefs, laying the foundations for a successful partnership.?

?

4?? Create a commitment.?

Appointing a recruitment consultant on an exclusive basis means they are committed to your candidate search and will not rest until they fill your vacancy. No flirting with other opportunities, they’re 100% focused on your needs as a client because they can be confident, you’re not wasting their time.?

?

5?? Show that you're in it for the long term.?

Exclusivity requires commitment and by working exclusively, your recruiter can take as long as they need to get the right candidate on board. No time restrictions, no KPIs and 100% focused on finding the right fit for your business.??

What’s more, building a relationship with you and your team means they can help with future hires, hitting the ground running when growth or change beckons.?

At TLD Recruit we really see the benefits of working exclusively, and that view is shared by our clients, including Group CEO of Jonas Software UK & Europe, Darrell Boxall .

“Working on an exclusive basis gave me the confidence that TLD Recruit and Jonas were aligned in an efficient and pragmatic process, without the noise and distraction of trying to service multiple agencies.”
