Why Recommendations Matter For Professional Branding On LinkedIn

Why Recommendations Matter For Professional Branding On LinkedIn

Your?professional brand?is important. It sets you apart from other professionals in your field. It can also be a deciding factor in whether or not you get hired for a job. So, how can you make sure that your professional brand is strong? One way is to have recommendations on LinkedIn.

What Is A LinkedIn Recommendation

There’s no doubt that recommendations can be beneficial to your professional brand. But what exactly are they, and how can you get them? Recommendations are essentially testimonials from other LinkedIn members attesting to your skills and abilities. They add credibility to your profile and show potential employers that others vouch for your work.

Why It Matters

Recommendations Vouch For Your Abilities

LinkedIn recommendations?can be a valuable asset for your professional brand. They vouch for your abilities and show potential employers that others think highly of your work. LinkedIn is one of the most widely-used platforms for networking and job hunting. Therefore, having recommendations on your profile can go a long way in helping you stand out from the competition.

?That being said, it’s not enough to simply have recommendations. They need to be well-written and relevant to the kinds of jobs you’re interested in. So take some time to carefully craft each recommendation. Also, make sure that you ask people who can speak to your skillset and experience.

With strong recommendations, you’ll be able to boost your professional brand and give yourself a better chance of standing out from the crowd.

Recommendations Add Credibility

When it comes to job hunting, your credibility is important. Employers want to know that you’re competent and capable of doing the work they need you to do. And one way to show them that is by having recommendations on LinkedIn.

?Recommendations add an extra layer of credibility to your profile because they come from people who have actually worked with you or seen you in action. They can attest to your skills and abilities, and this can give potential employers more confidence in hiring you.

?Furthermore, recommendations can also help you stand out from the competition. With so many professionals looking for jobs, anything that sets you apart from the rest is valuable. And if potential employers see that others have recommended you, it might just be the thing that makes them choose you over someone else.

Recommendations Build Trust

Receiving a recommendation on LinkedIn attests to your skills and increases your trustworthiness. That’s because the person who writes the recommendation is putting their own reputation on the line. So when someone sees that you have recommendations from trusted individuals, they’re more likely to believe that you’re a competent professional.

?Not only does this build trust with potential employers, but it can also help you land jobs and clients. In today’s competitive job market, having a strong online presence is essential, and recommendations can be a big part of that.

Recommendations Show Off What Makes YOU Unique

One of the best things about recommendations is that they allow other people to highlight what makes YOU unique as a professional. Whether it’s highlighting a specific skill set or praising your great attitude, recommendations give insight into who YOU are as a person—something that’s hard to convey through a simple resume.

?For example, let’s say you’re a web developer who specializes in creating custom WordPress themes. If someone writes a recommendation for you that mentions your expertise in this area, it will instantly make you more attractive to prospective employers who are looking for someone with those specific skills.

Provides An Overview Your Work Experience, Competence, And Skills

Most job seekers are aware of the importance of having a strong LinkedIn profile. After all, LinkedIn is one of the most popular platforms for networking and job hunting. But what many job seekers don’t realize is that recommendations can be just as important as your actual work experience when it comes to impressing potential employers.

?Recommendations provide third-party validation of your skills and abilities, which can be especially helpful if you’re applying for jobs in a competitive field. They also give recruiters a more holistic view of your work experience, competence, and skills. And since LinkedIn is such a widely-used platform, having recommendations on your profile can go a long way in helping you stand out from the competition.

How To Get Recommendations

Getting recommendations on LinkedIn is relatively easy, all you need to do is ask!

  1. ?Ask for them from people you’ve worked with. A great way to get started is by reaching out to colleagues, clients, or vendors who you have a good working relationship with and asking if they’d be willing to write a recommendation for you.
  2. Make it easy for them by providing suggested language. If you’re worried about someone not knowing what to say, provide some talking points or examples of the types of things you’d like them to mention in the recommendation. This will help jog their memory and make it easier for them to write something positive about your work.
  3. Offer to reciprocate. Once you’ve built up a few recommendations on your profile, return the favor and write recommendations for other professionals in your network who deserve it. Not only will this help build goodwill, but it can also come back around and result in more people being interested in writing recommendations for you as well!

Excellent Share Friend. Very informative and useful information. A recommendation is a commentation written by a LinkedIn member to recognize your work. Recommendations really matters for professional branding on LinkedIn. The importance of recommendations is immense, because at the most basic level it serve as proof that the skills and credentials on your profile aren't simply made up or exaggerated to make you appear more qualified than you really are. It's a third party validation of your skills, experience, expertise and your credentials. If I should write a recommendation, I will choose strong, accurate adjectives over general terms or cliches, include details or insights that wouldn't necessarily show up on a resume or profile. It should be brief no more than 3000 characters - but even shorter than that is better, description of my time spending with that person. In conclusion I will add that having recommendations in one's profile shows that the profile owner cares about their reputation on the platform and if you use the recommendation feature, your profile value can increase even more.
