Why is the question.

Why is the question.

I get asked, “Why” a lot lately.

You don’t leave a 9-year career with the preeminent company in your professional field and hang up an “LLC” shingle without people taking notice and asking why.

Here’s the short answer:

For the last 10 years or so I’ve kept a “Scott Profile” in PowerPoint on my computer. It’s an amalgam of a lot of internal work I’ve done over the years. It is my self-reminder of who I am, what my strengths are, my values and needs, people I need around me to be effective as a leader.

And for the last six months I’ve had a hard time reading it, because what I read there wasn’t what I saw in my life any more…the profile still rang true, but I wasn’t being true to it.

And it was affecting me – how I felt about myself, my daily emotions and moods, my relationships, the quality of work I was doing, my ability to be that person when I found opportunities to do so.

So I asked myself why I was still doing what I was doing. The answers lacked passion or even truth.

So here I am, LLC shingle hung.

How about you?

·        Do you use your passion, energy, gifts in what you do every day?

·        If you built a “You Profile” that spoke iron truth about who you are, would you recognize that person in what you do and how you’re doing it?

·        What answers are you giving yourself to the very legitimate questions your heart keeps asking you? Are you even listening to those questions?

It might not mean quitting your job or making big changes, but hearing the questions and having answers, finding a way to get unstuck, is the most important thing you can do.

I’d be honored to hear your story and have a conversation about where you are.

Message me and we’ll find a time.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments and likes! A dear friend asked me how I built my "Scott Profile." It started years ago with exercises I used to walk through with coaching clients struggling in their job search. I repurposed it for general use: simple, low cost digital download for DIY...coaching package add-on if you want some company. https://sbinternational.samcart.com/products/rediscover-me
